Title: Sledgehammer
Post by: dougb on April 05, 2012, 08:03:40 PM
I have always been curious about the Mo Pinel-designed Faballs from the 90s, including the 3D Offsets and the Sledgehammer.

Although I didn't bowl in the 90s, I've had good success over the last few years with the old Faball Blue, Pink, and Norm Duke Hammers.  So when a very nice one of these popped up close to my span with one of my favorite layouts (label drill with the pin around 1:30) I jumped at it.

Just curious if anyone still uses these on today's lane conditions?  With my slower ball speed I have no problem making a ball turn on modern lane oils, and I actually prefer the older stuff as it allows me to stay right when others are moving inside (the twig is home to the Pink and nobody else plays out there).  Plus  like the carry, predictability, and durability of my older two-piece equipment such as these Faballs, my Quantums, and Rhino Pros.

Thanks!

When I was throwing Hammers, the Sledge and Hi-Rev were my 2 absolute favorite balls because they didn't jump like the newer stuff.  You always had a very reliable read almost the whole time.  And the ball always allowed me to move right when everyone else was moving left.
