If you're selling a ball...
« on: March 23, 2011, 05:32:11 AM »
For shts sake, put down a price..

Most of us here don't have ESP and haven't a effen clue about what you think is "reasonable" for a price on a used ball.

I'll shoot a price to a BR member for a ball who will become pssed off because they think I'n trying to "lowball" them.

What's wrong with $80 shipped or best offer?? At least I have a good idea of how much dope you've been smoking to want that much for a 2nd drill used ball...

For general help of sellers

Good rule of thumb for selling a used ball.

If the ball was released in the past 4-6 months,

Take the current online price from a few different sites and average it up.

Then based on the condition multiply that times 0.6 for mint condition

anything after that assume 0.4 or less

For continental U.S. shipping don't expect to charge much over $20.

So a Roto Grip Infinite Theory online currently is about  $134ish

Ball is in mint condition

134 x 0.6=  $80 plus another $20 for shipping.

That is coming out pretty good.

That works well for most premium bowling balls. Anything under that your looking closer to 0.4 as the multiplier or less.

Track 505T  online around $125ish

125 x 0.4 = $50 plus $20 shipping.

Be good, or be good at it.

…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

Shipping maxes out at $20?  But it costs $27 to ship a 16lb package from Florida to California!

And don't forget to add the $2 for Paypal.  Or better yet, I'll send you a money order and you can subtract the cost of the money order and a stamp from the price!  Funny, you never see that in a posting - deduct $2 for cash or money order!

I guess this is why I don't deal on here.  People are so petty.  If you don't list a price then I'm going to assume you want me to make an offer.  If I make an offer that offends you, then too bad.  I don't know anybody that is going to purposely pay more for an item then they have to.

I also love to see when people respond to a listing with "I really want it, what is the lowest you'll take?"   Again, I don't know anybody that is going to sell something lower than then they have to!

Whatever you do you're never going to make everybody happy.  If you don't want to deal with it, put your stuff on ebay and let them take 20% off the top.   Sell your $160 ball for $80 shipped and let ebay and paypal take $16 in fees!

I don't know many people rushing to buy an Infinite Theory for $100 shipped.  Not when a new one is $134 shipped.

And using that pricing - your going to buy a VG Nano for $160.  It's mint, so 160 x 0.6 =  96, and another $20 for shipping.  That's $116.  Then if I'm lucky I only need to plug and drill the thumb.  That's another $20-30, plus another $10-15 if I want a slug.  And add another $10 for inserts.  On the low side I'm looking at $156, high side is $171.   Or I can get the ball at the shop for $230 out the door.  You're going to save $60-75 on that deal, so maybe it's worth it for some people?

Logical and agree..unless the ball is uber rare..

It makes sense, no one is going to give you close to a new ball price when they can have a new ball for about the same price..

I dont charge the $2 for Paypal and I only deal with actual shipping. You pay shipping whether is $14 to the same state I live in, or $24 to California. I dont deal with the petty crap. Im just concerned will selling the ball and being done with it.

My 2 cents    :)

I wouldn't waste the money on used. Most times after redrill and any other work which isn't cheap you've spent almost the full value of the ball.

Shipping from Cali to NY was $22 for a 15lb package via fedex and insured. So the don't expect to charge much over $20 is a fair estimate.

Paypal fees are an evil you get stuck with either way your go online most of the time. Still like cars or anything else just because you bought it new and added what you wanted to the item and spent $220 for a bowling ball your going to be lucky to get half of that back online, or local.

Still on ebay I have seen some very new releases that were drilled go for $100 plus shipping. To each there own.
