My samples worked GREAT. This tape is second to none. Although not a heavy knuckler, I do knuckle the thumb a bit and I have been able to run a much-much tighter thumb hole and never hang up with this tape. I used up my samples and I can't wait to get my order. Jorge, hurry with my order.

Glad to hear that it's working well.

Thanks to all of you who ordered, I need the exposure more than the money right now, so I figured a 2 for 1 would be a good way to get the ball rolling.

To answer your first question, I'm not sure anyone can give you an honest answer at this point because this is a new product just out. I do have 9 games on one ball and the tape is still the same as the day I put it in. At approx. 50 cents per piece, you will get more than your money's worth.

To answer your second question, the answer is NO. Thumb stays clean.

Have used the tape and must say that I'm very pleased with it!!!  First thought my thumb would fly out thus leaving me with a false sense of security.  Have to say, I was pleasantly mistaken!  Thumb is secure and will slide out with the slightest bit of friction. Of course it depends upon how deep you insert the tape.  Just place it in the same position you're using for you existing tape or adjust to suit your level of comfort.  I've placed the tape in nearly all of my equipment.  Definitely a keeper and well worth trying if you haven't.

Great product!

Thanks Jorge!

The 6 sample pieces I received worked way beyond what I expected it would work. Especially for people that squeeze and/or knuckle the ball. This tape will eliminate your thumb hang-ups. I don't squeeze anymore, but I do knuckle the ball slightly. I took a ball where the white tape in the thumb hole was just right and put a piece of this slick tape in both the front and back of the thumb hole over the white tape that was already there and this made my thumb tighter, but still, I couldn't hang up no matter how hard I tried. I ended up having to add another piece of white tape behind the slick tape.

To sum it up, I had my regular 3 pieces of white tape in the thumb hole and installed the 2 pieces of Slick Tape and ended up having to add another piece of white tape under the Slick Tape, so this is an additional 3 pieces of tape in the thumb hole and I still couldn't hang up no matter how hard I tried to knuckle the ball. This tape is so effective that I may have to get my thumb holes re-sized as I don't want 4 or 5 pieces of white tape under the Slick Tape. .....Guys, this tape is the real McCoy.

Have to add my testimonial to this product. Have put a piece in all of my equipment, and it has greatly improved the smoothness of release, especially on my spare ball, which had become something of a hang-up due to a slight drilling error. Can't speak highly enough of it, and I have already passed the information and website address onto some more bowlers in the area.

I like your product, but I found a very big flaw:

I had a piece of your slicktape in the back of my thumbhole for about 2 weeks.  When I decided to remove it I had a very hard time.  When I did manage to get the tape out, it left a ton of super-sticky adhesive in the thumbhole.  The only way I could get the glue out was to scrape it out with a bowler's tool.  What a pain.

What material is this tape comprised of?  I only ask because it doesn't seem to be made for bowling balls.  The glue that is used seems to be industrial strength so you may want to go back to the drawing board and look at this.  It is a very good idea nonetheless.  I am not bashing your product, only trying to help.

Point well taken... we are going to re-visit that issue if it persists.
I seem to have had a section where the glue DIDN'T stick very well, so we will discuss this with the tape supplier. I thank you for bringing the issue up and please accept my apology for this problem. It's a fine line between making it stay, and having it let go when you want it to.

Well, my thumbhole isn't that large so I cannot get all the way down in there with acetone and a rag to get the glue out.  Why not use the type of glue from the black & white bowler's tape?

My thumbhole is small as well.. All you do is put some acetone on a small rag and use a screwdriver to push the rag down into the hole..

jkiser01, I don't know about you but I don't have time to wrestle the tape out of the thumbhole, clean the hole with acetone, rag, and a screwdriver, adjust the size of the thumbhole with a different type of product (due to changes with the temp. and humidity) and be ready to bowl when it is my turn.  To each his own I guess.

Maybe you haven't seen the problem I have with the glue left behind from the slicktape.  It was a pain to remove the tape, and basically, all of the glue that was on the back of the tape to start with was now in my thumbhole.  I'm sorry, but I have never had to use a rag and acetone after removing the AMF black or white tape even after it had been left in a ball for months.

I won't be purchasing anymore of this product until I know it has been rectified.  In fact, I just added more reverse pitch and went up two sizes on my thumbhole, so I doubt I will be needing a product like this any longer.  A teammate of mine that also tried this product had the same problem when he tried to remove it.  I still think this is a nice idea but the industrial strength glue needs to go.

redbear - Nice idea.  Never thought of that, but the extra piece of tape would really make the thumbhole snugger than I would probably want.

flacoman - No big deal bro.  I don't feel like I was ripped-off.  Besides, as I stated earlier, I don't think I'll need to use tape any longer.  It served its purpose and I got my $1.50 worth.

I have not had the glue problem that you are talking about, very strange.. Did you leave the balls or tape in a hot car? Just wondering..

I have tried it on top of some white tape as well and by itself and not seen any problems at all..

I am also always making tape adjustments during a game and that doesn't bother me at all.. Like you said, to each his own..

If they only made a ball that would carry that da_n 7 pin (and I am right handed!!)

I agree with Jim entirely. Now if only my order would arrive as I need to replace one piece that I messed up and have no replacement tape yet. Maybe it will arrive tomorrow.

Tonight, I just spent at least 15-20 min. removing the slicktape from a teammate's bowling ball thumbhole.

jkiser01 - I tried acetone and it took a long time to remove the adhesive from the back of the thumbhole.  I would hate to have to go through all that during league or tourney play.

flacoman - Is it possible I received a "bad" batch of slicktape

I put some in a ball the other night, then removed it (tried to re-use it in a different ball to no avail) and had no residue left in my thumbhole. I really like the idea of putting in on top of a piece of more "re-usable" tape that would make things super easy to deal with. Thanks J-kiser..

I just put slicktape in all of my balls. I prefer to tighter a little my thumbhole, the release is really smooth and no more hanging thumb. Thanks Jorge .

Sir,

I would be willing to bet you just got a bad batch with inadequate cure or excessive adhesive mass. It does happen but not real frequently. Toulene or acetone on a paper towel set in the thumb hole for 15-30 seconds then scraped with a stiff straight edge (butter knife, etc.) should suffice. Good product which should last much longer than texture tape.

Forgive me for not reading all of the replies of this lengthy post.

How many pieces of white tape is Slick Tape equivalent to?  Has anyone familiar with Magic Carpet compared both products?

Strider : The tape is the same as black in terms of thickness, but the slickness will make the thumbhole seem like it just got bigger
I haven't used Magic Carpet with it though , I know someone posted that were going to try that combination. Would be interesting to find out how that went.

You people that didn't buy or don't use this tape, don't know what you are missing out on. Especially for people like my self that can't bowl with a tight thumb hole. You can bowl with a tight thumb hole with this tape especially if you knuckle the ball a bit like I do. I have tightened my thumb hole with white tape and then put a this slick tape over the white tape to create a tight thumb hole and have yet to "hang up" in the ball the first time.

Just got done bowling a tournament using slick tape and it worked GREAT. I was able to get a real snug fit and still get out of the ball clean. Wish the bowler worked as well as the tape.

    THANK YOU SLICK TAPE
I will be using your product again.
