I've recently come across a good price sale on some P.B.S. shoes. These shoes are actually the forerunner of the Linds Exxxtra shoes, and were manufactured by Linds (in the U.S.) for P.B.S. & Rancol, Inc. in Salt Lake City. They have the removable cleats (inserts) like the Linds Exxxtra shoes, plus there are optional additional style cleats available for them as well. The company is no longer in business due to the passing of one of the primary individuals, but the remaining inventory of shoes is still available. The shoes themselves (with standard cleats) sell for $50 per pair, and you can purchase the optional cleats by the individual pack, or you can get the entire set of additional cleats for $23 added cost. $73 (plus shipping) will get you the shoes and the full set of optional cleats. Linds took over the selling of these shoes once the patent expired for P.B.S..
The standard cleats that come with the shoes are your basic buckskin for the slide sole, and standard rubber for the heels/traction sole. You can arrange the cleats to make the shoes either right handed or left handed. The cleats are defined by the color of Velcro that hold them to the shoe....the optional cleats include the red "Super Grip" (gum rubber), yellow "Mini Slide", green "Maxi Slide", and black "Special Teflon Super Slide". Of course you can mix and match the cleats to the desired slide length, just like the Linds Exxxtras.
I have a list here of the currently available sizes in both Men's and Women's shoes, and the list is as follows:
Men's "D" Width: Size 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5, 11, 11.5, 13, and 15
Men's "EE" Width: Size 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10, 10.5, 11, 11.5, 12.5, and 13
Women's "D" Width: Size 5, 5.5, 7, 7.5, 9.5, 10, 11
Women's "E" Width: Size 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, 6.5, 8.5, 9, and 9.5
From talking to the lady who was affiliated with the company, she commented that the shoes tend to run about 1/2 size larger than normal, which is pretty much par for the course for Linds shoes.
For anyone who is interested in looking into purchasing a pair of these Linds manufactured shoes, message me and I'll give you the name and phone number of who you need to contact. For variable sole shoes, you can't beat the price, or at least I haven't seen anywhere that can currently beat the price.
