Title: P.B.S. (Pro Balance Slide) Shoe Sale
Post by: 10 In The Pit on May 12, 2003, 06:53:08 AM
I've recently come across a good price sale on some P.B.S. shoes.  These shoes are actually the forerunner of the Linds Exxxtra shoes, and were manufactured by Linds (in the U.S.) for P.B.S. & Rancol, Inc. in Salt Lake City.  They have the removable cleats (inserts) like the Linds Exxxtra shoes, plus there are optional additional style cleats available for them as well.  The company is no longer in business due to the passing of one of the primary individuals, but the remaining inventory of shoes is still available.  The shoes themselves (with standard cleats) sell for $50 per pair, and you can purchase the optional cleats by the individual pack, or you can get the entire set of additional cleats for $23 added cost.  $73 (plus shipping) will get you the shoes and the full set of optional cleats.  Linds took over the selling of these shoes once the patent expired for P.B.S..

The standard cleats that come with the shoes are your basic buckskin for the slide sole, and standard rubber for the heels/traction sole.  You can arrange the cleats to make the shoes either right handed or left handed.  The cleats are defined by the color of Velcro that hold them to the shoe....the optional cleats include the red "Super Grip" (gum rubber), yellow "Mini Slide", green "Maxi Slide", and black "Special Teflon Super Slide".  Of course you can mix and match the cleats to the desired slide length, just like the Linds Exxxtras.

I have a list here of the currently available sizes in both Men's and Women's shoes, and the list is as follows:

Men's "D" Width:  Size 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5, 11, 11.5, 13, and 15
Men's "EE" Width:  Size 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10, 10.5, 11, 11.5, 12.5, and 13
Women's "D" Width:  Size 5, 5.5, 7, 7.5, 9.5, 10, 11
Women's "E" Width:  Size 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, 6.5, 8.5, 9, and 9.5

From talking to the lady who was affiliated with the company, she commented that the shoes tend to run about 1/2 size larger than normal, which is pretty much par for the course for Linds shoes.

For anyone who is interested in looking into purchasing a pair of these Linds manufactured shoes, message me and I'll give you the name and phone number of who you need to contact.  For variable sole shoes, you can't beat the price, or at least I haven't seen anywhere that can currently beat the price.

Revolution808, I completely forgot to ask what color the shoes actually are....and I don't have a picture of them either.  I'm thinking that they look similar to the Linds Classics, but that is just a guess.  I'll send you the info on who to contact.  Also, I'm pretty sure that these shoes can be configured for either left handed or right handed, depending on which cleats you put where.

10 In The Pit is correct, both shoes come with the ability to change pucks, enabling either LH or RH use.  Some sizes are already sold out, so check first.

I have some added info on these P.B.S. shoes.  They are built just like the Linds Classic shoes, come in white color only, and they have bottoms like the Linds Exxxtra shoes.  So, if you look up a picture of the Linds Classics on one of the on-line Pro Shops, you are looking at the same shoe as the P.B.S., except the bottoms are different on the P.B.S..  For $50, you get the basic shoes with the standard cleats that match the buckskin sole and rubber heels.  For an added $23, you get the set of 4 different optional design cleats so that you can mix and match the soles to the sliding/braking that you want.  Basically, you are getting something similar to the Linds Exxxtra shoes, made in the U.S.A., for only $73 (with the optional cleats).

As MI_2_AZ mentioned, some sizes are already sold out (drat it, my size is already gone), but the above list is current to 2 weeks ago.  If you are interested in talking to the lady who is handling the shoe liquidation sale, message me and I'll send you the phone number to call.  She is very familiar with the product and can answer most any question that you have.
