Pick a Ball drawing - WINNER FOLLOW-UP
« on: May 15, 2005, 01:31:05 AM »
I'm a non-winner from the 1st drawing. I'm all for this drawing .. think it's a good way to get a ball CHEAP!

What I'm interested here is finding out from the winners (we now have 8) what experience they have had.

What contest did you win? What ball did you select? Lane 1 was NOT an option .. were you interested in a ball that was NOT made available? Did the ball get delivered to you in a reasonable time? Were the PIN/TW as you requested?

Any other info you provide will be appreciated. I am interesting in entering future pics .. but like to investigate before I proceed. Thanks!

I won drawing number 3.
I picked a Storm Eraser Banshee in 10 lb for my fiancee.
Ike told me a couple of days ago that he was checking to see if they had it.
He also stated he would try to get me a tracking number as soon as he had one.
Hoping to hear something from him soon.

I won the 2nd drawing and I sent my request for the D/T High Energy on 5/11/05. I messaged Ike on 5/13 to see if it had been shipped yet. Here is his reply...

Ike, have you heard from your guy whether he has shipped the ball or not? Just curious if he will give you a tracking# so I would know what day to be looking for it.

I messaged him back yesterday 5/14/05 after not hearing back from him the previous night. He read my message, but has not responded back as of yet. I hope everything will be fine, but I'll keep you all updated.

Please don't take my post wrong, I never intended to imply your ball was NOT going to be shipped ...I was just wondering WHAT ball folks had chosen.

To be honest, I don't need to know the tracking number...etc, was just wondering what ball folks had picked.

BTW..nice move getting her a ball...smooth.....lol.

By recommendation of my pro shop driller, I chose the Storm Vertigo, we'll see where it fits into my arsenal of Brunswick stuff.  I'm patiently waiting, like a 5 year old on x-mas morning, to find out when I will get this ball.

I'm sorry guys I forgot to mention he ships Monday through Friday, so either they went out friday and he hasn't got back to me or they will go out on Monday.

Jtb51--I haven't heard back about the 10 # banshee yet.  I will drop you a line soon.

You like that Azguy? I thought it was a very smart move myself!
Maybe she can think of some way to thank me....

Jason

P.S.
I am in no way worried about getting this ball, Ike has a great rep on here and I know things take time. I am sure he has every intention of making this work or he would not have started it.

That was a 'touch of class', getting her a ball over you getting a new one. I'm SURE...if she can't think of some way, you'll find SOME WAY of suggestions. Maybe writing a few hints on her nEW ball ?...lol

I know when I ordered my wife her new V2 Sanded, she was very happy, and so was I ...

Why such a "cheap" ball?

Did you not need anything for yourself?  Obviously it's your choice, but if you win a choice of any ball, why not choose something more expensive for yourself and then just buy the Banshee?  I mean, the Banshee is $95 at Buddies, and something like say the Vertigo is $135.

I've thought about what I would pick if I won, and honestly I don't know.  I tend to do better with the cheaper mid-priced balls.  I thought maybe I'd ask if I could get 2 cheaper balls (maybe a Power Groove and something else, you know, 2 balls that sell at Buddies for $60 each or so - maybe one for me and one for the wife), or maybe just get something more popular here (like GP2, an Inferno) and then turn around and try and sell it.  You still have to pay for drilling (~$50 for me), so I'd be upset if I decided to get something like the GP2 and then find out it didn't match up with my style.  I'd hate to punch it up and then turn around and sell it here for $60!

It's a tough decision, and it's great that you decided to get something for your fiancee.  I'm not knocking your choice, this is just something I've been thinking about since the drawing started as far as "what would I do?" and I'm torn between "do you get something useful," or do you just try and pick one of the most expensive balls?

I too, am torn, not that I'd win. I picked up an Exception and really like the ball, but i'm a Storm nut, and love my Atomic Charge. I was thinking of getting another Exception or A/C and just drill it up when something went wrong with the ones I have.
Then again, I was also thinking of getting something to resale, maybe a GP2 , Vertigo, Exception 5.0, who knows. I probably will never win, so I don't worry to much about it, I'm not a lucky person when it comes to games of chance, my BEST chance, is usually to stay out of them.

But, who knows, maybe the 'number god" will smile on me and then I'll have to do some deep thought.

BTW...you could leave notes on the bag...in the bag...stuffed in her shoes as well, if the 'note on the ball ' thing doesn't work.  lol

Well, my thinking was:
I will NEVER find a 10lb banshee used for a good price, just not enough people using them. I CAN find an Ace (which would have been my choice) on here in 15 lbs for a fair price, may take a few weeks but someone will want to sell one. Therefore I figured if I got hers for the raffle ball and bought mine used I would save money in the long run, not to mention she really needs a heavier ball (currently using 8 lb, or a house 10lb ball) and I have a good selection of balls I use.

Jason
P.S. I have thought about giving the raffle another try just to see if that Ace can be had!

Good thinking. You'd probably never find a 10 #er in any good shape.
BTW, if I win and pick up a new A/C, I'll sell you mine, BUT..I'm not that lucky so don't hold your breath !! lol
