xxxpipologyxxx--WARNING???
« on: June 25, 2003, 05:45:47 AM »
Just wanted to post a warning about this user. If he posts, or messages me soon telling me what is going on with our transaction then I will retract this post.

I posted a awhile back looking for a Track EMB. He messaged me telling me he had one for trade. I told him what I had and we agreed on a trade, an Ebonite Apex Aggression (which was used, thumb was plugged once, and he was notified of it) and $20. I shipped the ball on June 13th, with $20 cash in the thumb hole. It arrived at his address on June 17th at 3:07pm. He never messaged me letting me know he got it. I sent a few messages asking if he got it, and when he was going to send the EMB. He notified me that he was "on vacation" and he would have his maid send it. OK, fine. I told him just to make sure that I am notified of the tracking number, as I notified him of the one I shipped. Still nothing. I realize the ball only arrived there 8 days ago, but he has posted a few things in the wanted/for sale room. If he can do that why not return my messages?

This is just a warning to other users. I understand people have things happen and it can take awhile. So once I recieve the tracking number and the ball arrives I will repost about a positive transaction with him.

If you don't get your EMB XF in the next 7 days, E-mail me and we can work something out. I have a 15# sitting in the closet.

In pipology's defense he did send me the Blue Fire I bought by UPS.  I was worried at first because he seemed hesitant to make the transaction.  I got it real quick and everything was great.

---> BUT <--- The condition of the ball was NOT as ADVERTISED, he told me it had like 6-12 games on it, and it great condition.  When I opened the box I found a ball beat up with chips and cuts in it.  There was even a track line formed in the ball.  I'd have to say from experience with ball wear since I own many, this ball has to have any near 60+ games on it to say at least.

Overall I learned a valuable lesson from him.  I will not buy another used ball from someone you can't SEE, unless they are a reputable pro shop operator.  Plus, with the ball prices being so cheap on internet sites, I might be better off buying NIB balls anyway.

I am also like Sr Kegler.  When I see a ball I might want, I check to see when the user joined and where they have been posting.  I feel I get a better sense of the person this way.

I think we all have balls that we decide not to buy/sell after starting a conversation about it.  But once a price and shipping timeline have been set, the deal is final and people should stick to it.

And if louie's screamR has been a 14# I would have taken it!

Yeah I agree with Sr. also.

You have to do your research.

Hopefully xxxpipologyxxx will take all of this and learn.  He is just a kid
But does have to remember know, that he is playing with the big dogs now and rules are a little different than trading baseball cards

FYI
USPS Priority Mail is not guaranteed for a delivery time, but for the most part they are definitely in that 3-4 day window.

The major differences between it and UPS are that with UPS insurance up to $100 is included in the price as is a confirmation number, which is entered into their database immediately. For USPS it is an extra cost option - irritating and incovenient.

USPS's equivalent to UPS's tracking number is only available for Priority Mail via an extra cost option called Delivery Confirmation. It is only 35 cents BUT the tracking number is only entered into their database and available online AFTER the delivery is completed.

Overall, if UPS is 30 minutes away or less, it is much preferred to Priority Mail. Mail Boxes Etc has UPS services but they charge extra. Office Depot and STaples have UPS services; not sure about any extra charges.

This whole business about UPS being x minutes away is a crock.  Establish the account (yes, individuals can do it also) and scheduled a pick-up.  The one-time pick-up cost easily offsets what you would spend in time and fuel getting to where the drop-off station is located.

The other things to keep in mind is this... if you do not have the money NOW for the purchase and shipping, don't set up a deal.  If you really want a ball, contact the seller and tell him/her that you are interested and IF the ball is available (give a timeline here) that you would be interested.  Don't ask sellers to hold balls.  It isn't fair.

I won an eBay auction for a Pro Purple Buzzsaw two weeks ago today.  I sent the money order the next day, and the seller shipped the ball the following Thursday.  Great!

He shipped it via USPS.

He must have sent it Priority, because he was able to provide me with a tracking number.  Went to usps.com and entered the number.  Ball was picked up in ID on 6/19, arrived in Denver on 6/22, and that's all I know.  7 days since date of shipment, and still no ball.

USPS Priority Mail in the 1# envelope is great, but something like a bowling ball should go UPS or FedEx Ground.

Holding a ball is fine.
But it is just like a handshake, you have commited to the deal.
The person is only holding the ball because they know you are going to buy it.
UPS and FED EX are the only way to send items, I would never send USPS, and with USPS workers going postal and all, your ball just might have a few bullet holes in it

I have a current deal working with him now for an X-it. He wanted it and said he couldn't pay via paypal so I said i'd take a money order. He said (last) Monday that he could send it (last) Friday when he got paid. Well I haven't received it yet. So i wrote him yesterday and he said he sent it this week and I should get it soon. After reading this thread seems like i've heard this before. I hope he actually did send a money order, if not I won't waste my time dealing with him again.

Hey I'm with pjd300 on this. I know the kid. He's not really bad or nothing but can get alittle carried away with all the stuff he wants. My only complaint about him is that he took my Trauma and sold/traded it on here. But I was gonna sell it anyways (still waiting for him to pay me though). Hopefully I can somehow help here. But just wanted to let everyone know he isnt completely unknown.

You're joking, right?  He took your ball without your permission, sold or traded it, and didn't pay you for it???

How can you possibly excuse that?

Michelle,

yes individuals can set up UPS accounts but pick up service is NOT available everywhere. I have a business acct set up with them and they will not pick up in my area.

I even caught the UPS guy delivering something the one day and asked if he could tkae 2 balls to the depot and he said no...we are not equipped to take pick ups.

So yes, anyone can set up an account but pick up is NOT always an option.
