Length: old dry lanes THS

Volume: not much

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):

COMMENTS

Likes:super smooth and predictable

Dislikes: none

this ball is as described, very arcing and predictable
i cant wait to use this on the lower volume patterns i am seeing at the various tournaments we go to
I had some layout help from Mitch Beasley and he had suggested a stronger layout to maximize the ball flare (which is maxed out at 2.5")
mine is drilled pin up, i will probably take the underlying surface up to 2000 and then polish to get some extra length.
what can i say, just perfect for what i was looking for

i can see another one in my bag pin down.
Its one of those pieces where i can see multiples in my arsenal

LANE CONDITION

Length:

Volume:

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):THS, Several Kegel patterns

COMMENTS:  Very unique piece that Hammer has added.

Likes:The Arson Low Flare is very self-explanatory.  It gives the bowler a very unique look with the stronger 500 Abralon with Clean N Sheen finish, able to throw a stronger cover without jacking left as soon as it hits the dry.  This ball is a must for the tournament bowler: incredible control through the heads, midlane and back-ends.  Very predictable without sacrificing the hitting power.

Dislikes:  None yet.  I am going to polish one of these to see if any hitting power gets lost

Let me add to my initial post for this ball.
I drilled up another one pin down for the team NATS pattern we are on in league play
for me - 55x4.75x55 puts thepin below/between fingers
took it to light 1000 dull by hand.
has weight hole on PAP

And - wow, did this ball change my look at this pattern.
can play much straighter and a nice controlled breakpoint tot he pocket.
Makes the pattern play much easier.

Now, i did have to "roll" the ball well to get the ball to react properly, but when i did, it was perfect.
this ball should be very popular for both NATS patterns.

Hammer Arson Low Flare
Weight: 15#
Top Weight: 3 oz.
Pin Placement: 2-3"

Layout:
4" Pin, label for me

First Impressions:
This ball still hooks quite a bit more to me but works just right when the heads are becoming burnt. Pushes through the dirt with ease and does not bleed out down lane.

General Thoughts:
Clean in the front, does not burn up in the dirt as most bowling balls do, and still gives a decent amount of reaction down lane. Straighter players can play up the dirt more while crankers should be able to work with this one on a THS.

Comparison:

Versus the Original

Not as aggressive, apples to oranges comparison needed here.

Versus the Pearl

Both are clean through the front; however, the Pearl has a more angular movement down lane while the Low Flare just rather coasts to the pocket in comparison of the two.

Versus the Hybrid

Both are smooth but the Hybrid is still stronger overall. Coverstock is the reason for this.

Final Conclusion:
For the cranker with too many revs and for the straight player with slow ball speed who needs some help from the coverstock.

Likes: Low diff means I have to rely on my hand and speed control. Allows me to be aggressive with the hand, but still keep my speed and angles down. Lets me stay in good tempo this way. It abides to what the lanes give me. No funny stuff.

Dislikes: I hope someone from EBI/Hammer reads this because they need to put this core with other (stronger) shells.

First ball drilled in February with 70x5x75 drill. Put a small P3 hole to get it going after realizing how clean this ball is. After a long layoff, bad habits come back easily and I turned to this ball to get me going in the right direction. I like how I can really unload on the ball and keep my speed slow, while keeping my angles up front tight. With stronger equipment, I find myself wanting to get fast with my feet and bend the wrist to get balls to go long enough and strike. This is, unfortunately, a bad habit for most house shots, and can mess with a player's ability to make a good ball motion with their physical game when there's more oil out there. For house shots, this ball and layout combination allows me to stay sharp with my fundamentals, keep angles tight, keep the speed low, and keep strong with the wrist position. I have also been able to use this on sport shots when I am weary to chase it left with stronger equipment. Basically, it's an option for me to stay in the burn longer and trick it with my hand to get it to wrinkle in the back.

Since I liked my first one, and it was so clean (maybe a little too clean), I wanted to drill a stronger one and put some surface on it. I figured it would be a formidable "shell up" from my first one and give me some more area while still trying to keep my angles tight up front. Since the first one was so clean with what I consider with one of my "stronger" low pin layouts, I opted for a 70x3.5x35 drill with a P3 Hole. My favorite surface prep is 500-2k. I pretty much can use this on almost everything I want, playing in the track and outside, keep my feet slow, and trick it with my hand. If I have to chase it left from where I started, it doesn't transition too crazily, and I can just trick it by chasing in with less speed and more hand, or chasing it right, keeping my wrist position stable, and throwing it a little faster.

I like these so much, the downside is when I run into more oil and I wish I had something that gives me this motion that can handle a lot more oil. I hope EBI/Hammer considers continuing this product with a stronger, solid shell, for those players who prefer to throw it on the slow side or those players with hand who want to keep those angles up front tight.

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):THS

Likes:Ball pushed through the front part of the lane and made a strong move to the 1-3. Hit this ball with 1500 and factory finish to get a different look. Boy did I ever. This will be going to Reno this month for the side events. Gives me a great look on a broken down pattern. Stay toned to see how it works on a fresh shot. Nothing Hits like a HAMMER!!!!! NOTHING

COMMENTS

Likes:Very controllable and definitely a ball I could see having multiple of with different layouts and cover preps

Dislikes:None

I had mine drilled with a stronger layout, and with this you will need some oil to keep it right. However the general characteristics of the ball remains, clean up front, great read, with a nice smooth reaction. I haven't adjusted the cover yet, but as soon as I get a chance I will get back here and update the changes seen.

The ball really does hit like a Hammer!

Likes: Goes down the lane very nice and when it hits the dry smooth arching ball . When shooting at a corner pin it doesn't snap and hook away you can play more direct with it. You can polish it to get it down the lane a little longer..

Dislikes: None so far..

I bowl in a One ball League and this ball is the only one we can use . Everybody gets the ball drilled with the CG in the palm. We have 38 / 3 person teams from all around averages it's a great ball for the beginner to the advanced bowler . So far after 4 weeks into the season we have had 5-300's and 2-800's with this ball .

Layout=35x4x70
Rev Rate=425

Wow is all I can say about the Arson Low Flare. This is my favorite ball in the Hammer line. This ball is good no matter lane condtions or surface. I have drilled 4 of these so far and have 6 of them just sitting waiting to be drilled. I have never had such a great underrated ball on my hand. This ball is simply amazing and has to be the best symmetrical ball on the market right now. Smooth through the fronts and does it have bite on the back ends. Jeff Ussery nailed it on this ball. The low diff on this ball is what makes it so good. No matter you rev rate or where you play the lane you need the Arson Low Flare in your bag. I will have one in mine for years to come.

Likes:Hammer has great versatile ball in the Low Flare. This ball is awesome for all styles of bowling, especially the higher rev guys. With the weak core and 500 surface this ball is awesome for fried heads and mids. The ball is the smoothest through the fronts of any ball I have thrown even with 500 surface. The ball has good continuation on the back with control. This ball is great for league, but I found it even better on sport conditions. The low flare is a great ball to use to not to give the pocket away. The ball motion is smooth and predictable. On league and shorter sport patterns this ball is awesome.

The VAl drilling low flare rolls the best. Used at Nationals, league, and all my sport patterns in our PBA league. CONTROL is the name for this ball.

Dislikes: Heavy oil but there are plenty other balls in the Hammer line up for oil.
