BALL:  Belonged to a friend of mine.  I believe it was 15 pounds.  Pin was at the 5:00 position (12:00 being above and 6:00 being below)in reference to the ring finger and up against the ring finger.  The CG is kicked out a little.  Not sure about the top weight.  Compared to the Big Blue, this is a few feet longer with the same strong move on the backend.  Strong, but controlled.  This is definitely for medium lane conditions.  The original Big Blue is more suited on heavier conditions, but the Pearl STILL needs oil to perform.  I threw it for one game before league tonight.  I could say I shot 230 with it just to make it sound good.  But who really cares?  Score is irrelevant.  In my opinion the Big Blue series are the best balls from Hammer since the original 3D series (Blue Solid and Blue/Smoke Pearl).

Ladies and Gentelman. Introducing ball reaction that has been looked for in every hammer line so far. THANK YOU HAMMER/EBONITE!!!! Finally hammer has taken a page out of the cat series book from ebonite and designed a ball with 1. a High RG 2. Ease through the heads 3. Overall backend reaction but most important #4!!! 4. A SMOOTH ROLLING BALL IN OIL AND WHEN IT HITS THE FRICTION!!! HORRAY!!! Now that im done expressing my joy lets get down to the nitty gritty...

My big blue pearl is layed out 5x 4 3/4. I recieved this ball and the cg was not in line with the pin/HSB hence the "4 3/4".  Luckally it did not need a hole so here we go. With the pin above the finger the HSB is tight to the thumb. Ball had 2 1/4 top. I drilled out my fingers to 1 7/8 depth. I left this ball at factory and took to the lanes. For a peark HRG ball this ball sure gets up the lane. On a house pattern 39' 10-10 blend 5-5 it read the lane beautifully. WHen i sent the BBP out it never over reacted, a smooth roll off the friction and came up light. On the 2004 U.S. Open pattern "HPL surface with major dish in the heads" the ball perfomed well. Brought the ball in around 4th arrow and it calmed the back of the lane down where the BB would hook across the head pin.

Smooth is the name of this game and the BBP has it. When watching the prime time go down the lane i said to myself thats the ball motion i need in my arsenal and one hammer needs as well. After consulting w/ Dave Wodka from ebonite he suggested that the cover of the BBP will compliment the PT. Thanx Dave. I have not shot any big scores with this ball yet but the roll is more important to me then some 279-300 game

A++++++ To hammer on this ball. Keep em commin!!

I’ve been a hammer head for the last 5 years....On the advice of my Local Pro Shop Top Notch Proshop. I recently purchased a Big Blue Pearl. My Driller, The Innovator's Bruce Gordon and Bea Martinez drilled a layout of 4 by 3...Never throwing the ball, I tried it right out of the proshop into a Scratch Travel League with games of 243,238,231 for a good 712 Series I couldn't ask for a more readable ball with plenty of hook and backend and with great recovery.... I see alot more big games to come...Thanks Hammer... and Thanks Innovator's....

WOW!!
Just punched holes in this one last night before league.   5-1/2"  Pin from PAP, 90* layout.   HMB falls just left of the thumb.   Pin is 1/2" above bridge.

THIS BALL IS A TRUCK.  I struck 19 times in 2 games.   This ball is the one I have been looking for for light oil patterns on guardian.

EDIT:   On 03.15.04, Shot games of 268 and 300, finishing with 783.   This ball HITS LIKE A HAMMER!!!

Been hammer head since ebonite re introed hammer last year!  Have drilled just about every ball they have brought out under the hammer name.

That said this is by far the best rolling hammer to date on med to med light!

I am a lefty with above average revs and speed.  I had my Big Blue pearl drilled in the hammer #5 drilling with pin above bridge cg kicked a bit to positive side and mass bias in strong position. It was drilled by master driller and pba pro Cory Short from Skore More pro shop.  He has been drilling my stuff for years.  I have had this ball for about 2 weeks now and am just starting to use it alot now.  All i have to say is WOW!  It clears the heads with the greatest of ease.  Reads the mid lane really well and makes a smooth hard turn on the back.  Very controlable though as is the original big blue.  I shot with this ball on a variety of shots and believe the best is med heavy to med.  On heavy oil it struggles to get the right angle to the pocket it gets there but wont carry.  But that not what the ball is made for.  Not a dry lane ball by any means either.  It is not a big fan of alot of carry down either, but all in all a great ball.  I recently shot 238,300,278 for 813 in my classic league with it.  Give this a solid 9 of 10.  Nothing hits like a hammer!!!!!!!!

Great ball for dry lanes maybe a touch of oil but stay away from most house shots with this baby. Drilled it up 5x5 and the ball does carry good with very fresh backends but after a trace of carry down your looking at 2-8-10's the rest of the night. Would be a great ball for a lefty or someone that plays the dry or in a dry house, but a lot of money for a dry lane ball.

This is a secondary review of this ball for me.   I am currently throwing only Hammer products.   I bowl in Central IL.

This ball is very clean through the front part of the lane.   This ball makes a very strong move to the hole, although not jerky or sporatic.
This ball works well for me-  I track high and have high revs.
I have played this ball on many conditions- from house shots to PBA patterns.  This ball is VERY GOOD and very adaptable to any and all conditions.

The ball I have is a 3" pin to CG distance.   I have the pin 4" above my midline- it is 5 1/2"from my PAP, and the HMB marking is just left of my thumb.   This is a 90 degree drilling.

Right now this ball along with the Big Blue Solid are the best of the line.

All right, I too will do an updated result on this ball. I still believe the ball could have a stronger cover on it but I can do that in the Pro Shop with ease. On tournament conditions where backends are too strong and nothing reads the midlane and checks in the heads this is a sweet ball. Don't try and over read this as I think Hammer may have a great ball in this line up and I can see myself drilling up a solid Big Blue in the near future, sooner if I can get Dave to send me one. I run across more medium lane conditions than those with oil today and can see great numbers coming from this ball.

Hey Guys I just got this ball drilled on Tuesday May 25th. The drilling I selected was #4 on the drilling sheet for heavy oil with carrydown. The pin was 2-4 out and the top weight was 2 3/4. A little bit about me. I am right handed cranker with good speed and good revs. I bowled on a sport condition to try it out. I did not have that ball for heavy oil in my aresnal. Well let me tell you I do now. This ball clears the heads very smooth and makes a hard break to the pocket in the backend. I pretty much got it drilled for Reno. I leave on June 6th. This thing is a flat out HOOK MONSTER. If you need that heavy oil ball this is your choice. Looks like Hammer is back with the Big Blue Pearl.

Thanks

I am 14 years of age and throw about 15 mph with about 20 revs. I have about a 190 average.

I have the Track Crash and this ball. This ball I have mixed feeling about. It's a good ball for certain lane conditions. If the backend isn't even close to right, my ball snaps or just doesnt move. I love my Crash a bit better. I can rely on my Crash a bit more because it rolls a bit better. The Pearl sometimes has a problem rolling, and I noticed if you loft it a bit, it seems to stop reacting, the only way I got this ball to hook real good is to roll it on the lanes better. Which worked, if I got it out. My favorite line is about 20, out to 10. So, I recommend this ball, just not for all lane conditions.

Okay everybody sorry. Lane conditions.
Synthetic/House Shot-This ball reacted a bit weird. It didn't want to carry the ten pin, no matter which way I moved. Even if I put a couple more revs on it, it just rolled out too early and hit dead.
Wood House/43 feet 55 mils, 10 and out 35 mils.-This ball rolls better on wooden lanes. It has a good backend, even when the oil carried down. I say this is a good ball for somebody with a good amount a revs.

I have this ball drilled with the pin just above the ring finger and to the right. cg is just to the right of my grip. 15lbs. i have had this ball for about a month and a half now. i wanted to get a good read on it before i posted a review. i bowled on typically block house shots, pba patterns and sport shots. i have found with my drilling layout that the ball does not react at all with oil on the backends. if the backends don't have any oil this ball hits great. it is versatile, i can play a basic down and in or swing it over the end cap and the ball will carry the corner pins. this ball was absolutely spectacular for me on pattern e. i am also able to take some revs off of the ball and play it more direct straight down the boards but again. it would not react for me with oil on the back part of the lane. on most house shots i would think that it would be a safe bet to say that this ball will work.

Okay, this is a continuation of my last post. After having it for about a month, I have found the perfect way to throw this ball. It works well, I got it drilled to hook early and hard.
42 foot sport shot, dont know oil, sorry- Ball would over/under react most of the time, pulled out my Phenom Unleashed and won the tournament.
38 foot house shot- Had to take some revs off, and the ball still carried, bowled a 299 with it.
