Spec:
15.03lbs
3 oz top
3 inch pin

Layout: Pin over ring, MB kicked out 2 inches right, 5 x 5 layout
        (Advice given from Brian Graham)

Pic: http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/1764/bwpgr4.jpg

Pattern:
AMF Synthetic Lanes
38ft, 8 to 8 medium-heavy oil, 7 and out dry

The BWP had good length with a nice hard arcing backend reaction. I played 8 to 5 and had a great shot. I was using an up the back release and the ball read the midlanes wonderful, and when it hit the dry the ball just bounced and tore the pocket to shreds. I could play up 8 or 9 direct and still had good carry. But if i got it in a board or more it left a flat ten or 2 pin. Next i tried to get more around the ball using more tilt and i was able to throw the ball from deeper inside say 12 or 13 and get it down the lane out to 6 or 5 and it came roaring back. I was amazed. The ball is impressive and can be tweaked by altering the cover.

Another great ball from Hammer.

Now THIS is what I call a Hammer.  This is by far the greatest ball I've thrown for medium to heavy oil patterns.  This ball has a descent pin placement that allows it to be very aggressive.  The drill pattern allows the ball to hook throughout the lane, creating a gentle arc straight to the pocket.

Unlike the original Black Widow, the coverstock is nowhere near high maintenance.  It gives a consistent roll every time and hits like a truck.  If anyone remembers the Hammer equipment made by Faball, such as the 3D Offset Super Hook, you'll notice some similarities.  Ebonite has done a good job with carrying on the legacy that is Hammer.  This ball will be in my bag for a long time to come.

Specs: 15lb. 2oz.
Top weight 3 1/2 oz.
style: Tweener

I had this ball drilled with the #1 drilling for this ball with medium track pin above and between the fingers pap is 5 1/2" and a 4" balance hole.

Now to the good stuff the review itself. I absolutly love this ball i also have a AMF 300 Nighhawk and it was a little to hooky for me on lanes i bowl on so i got this for it's length.  It has very good length a sharp breakpoint and massive backend reaction.  I just bowled with it for the first time last night on my league and i bowled a 127 just trying to figure out where to throw it, but it picked up the second and third game 182 for the second and a 257 the third game for a descent 566 series. I have a good feeling there are some good games to come with this ball.  Well i hope this review will help the tweeners of the bowling world to choose this ball.  Thanks for reading my review Brian.

I have been bowling for a total of 6 months. I received the ball as a C-mas gift and have been using it ever since. As a new bowler, I have been experiencing different ways to release the ball. I am happy with the technique I use. I am throwing a 15lb BW pearl with finger tips. I am currently in a league at Clearwater AMF lanes and holding a steady average of 160. I have had 2 clean games over 200. I love the black widow series. My spare ball is a black widow clear ball. I am addicted to bowling and want to one day make a strong career out of it. I have a long way to go, but the hammer will stay in my bag for a long time. The ball is awesome.

this ball is a monster on the right conitions, however it will not ripple on heavy oil, so i just need to remember i'm wasting my time trying to get this ball to hook in oil.

Hammer Black Widow Pearl
Weight: 15#
Pin: 3-4"
Top Weight: 3.5 oz.

Layout:
5" Pin at 12 o'clock, Mass Bias at 45 degrees. No Weight Hole.

First Impressions:
This is a very strong angular motion ball. The ball gets decent length with incredible recovery on the backend. The angularity is simply incredible! The BWP is good for medium conditions but is very suitable for a THS.

General Thoughts:
The first thing I notice about the ball was how much length it got, so much that it almost scared me due to the fact that I didn't feel it would recover. The BWP is very suitable for many different types of bowlers. I've witnessed everyone from women stroking it up the 2nd arrow to men being super crankers able to make this ball work. A ball this versatile is a big plus!

Comparison/Contrast:

Black Widow Pearl vs. Black Widow Bite

The Pearl gets more length and angularity while the Bite gets the award for being able to handle heavier volumes of oil and reads the oil sooner. When the Bite becomes too much ball, a simple ball change to the Pearl makes it easier to play the lanes, which in turn results in higher scores. This could definitely be a great 1-2 ball combo for almost any bowler! Throw in the BW Spare and you've got a true Hammerhead's dream!

Conclusion:
If you desire length and angularity on the backend then look no further than getting yourself a Black Widow Pearl.

I've been bowling for over 35yrs I can say I really missed the hitting power of Hammer equipment. So I decided to switch from columbia, track, dynothane equipment and go back to Hammer. First I got the Black widow bite last month then last week a Pearl. WOW is all I can say! Two different houses with completly different conditions and a 278/725 series and a 264/713 in the first 6 games! I'm not easily impressed at 43yrs old but the proof is in the results.
Very predictable roll, layout is pin above ring finder is my standard layout.
I can crank it with the young guns and go down the boards and still no over under issues like other equipment. Between the Bite and the Pearl I may get to stop carring 6 balls for league night.
For the poster who couldnt get there's to move I would say you may have a defective one because mine is awesome and i've  been over a 200 ave bowler since I was 16 and have bowled all around the world when I was in the military. I could have used this one in Korea and England to make some money.

Got mine in a trade. This is how its drilled pin above middle finger cg next to fingers nd mass bias in thumb. First time I used it 224,258,289, 771. Ball is really smooth than a angular motion in the backend. Since then alot of high scores with it 279,290,289. I reconmend this ball to anyone that likes hammer or has a descent revs.

Alright, ive had my bw pearl for quite a while now and I am more the impressed by this ball. Im not going to get into the technical specs of my ball because frankly I just dont have much time. Anyway, if you can manage to find the proper strike line for your style of bowling, you will consistently hit strike after strike. I personally bowl the 2 finger "palm" delivery. I only throw this ball at around 13MPH but produce an insane amount of revs. Ive tried many different balls, whether be the Brunswick Twisted Fury, or the Ebonite NVS. By far the bw pearl hits harder then any of these balls. The only problems I've ever had with this ball is that currently its been breaking hard into head pin causing for the leave if a 3-6-10, but today i corrected that with a relatively heavy polish. All in all, I LOVE THIS BALL.

Rev Rate: +375
Ball Speed: ~16 through pin deck (~20 off hand)
Layout 5.5x5 Pin Above
Surface: Box
Expectations: To fit inbetween Venom and Bite

Impression:

My initial impression was that this ball simply jumped more off the dry both left to right and front to back than the venom. It seemed to cover the same boards as the venom just the shape looked different. This is not what I wanted from this ball. I wanted it stronger than the venom and weaker than the bite and the same arcy shape as the venom. So I decided to adjust the surface to 1000 with no polish. And boom... I got what I wanted. Now it reads the mids better and does not jump of the dry as much. It plays in the middle of the venom and bite.

Well I don't own this ball any more because it was stolen one night after I finished leagues using this ball and it just dominated. This is a great ball, great for using outside of the lanes in the drier areas. I threw it around the 5 to 10 boards and like to watch it ride the line with the gutter and just hook into the pocket. Not to say, this ball is very versatile and very forgiving. You can miss your mark by 10 boards and it'll still pound the pocket. But now I have the Storm Rapid Fire Pearl as the substitute and that ball is just awesome.

Most worthless piece of junk I have ever owned. I bought one and won one at a tournament drawing. The first was drilled with the label layout and then the next one was drilled for the all purpose skid/flip with the pin centered directly above the finger tips. Those are not the aggressive layouts for this ball but it was too aggressive for a house shot. I hate the drive. My speed, revs, and mark had to be the EXACT meaning 100% same every time. Every angle and line on every pattern EXCEPT something over 45 foot long, the ball was too aggressive on the backend. This ball has given me split after split after split enev whenever I hit the pocket solid. I would not recommend this ball to anyone unless they do not crank it and your looking for something that will move hard. The closest motion to this ball in my arsenal is THE ONE original but the pin reaction and backend motion are completely different for me, and I have the one drilled for the skid/flip motion which is the same as the black widow i won.

Good ball but not for a house shot. It pushes through the oil well, but it jumps too hard off the dry boards. But usually use it during my 1st set at most tournaments.

This was originally the wife's ball. She loved it. Long and strong. She shot 299, 300, & 790 something with it.
When she was done with it I had it pluged and redriled. It has become my benchmark ball. For me it doesn't react in the oil. But is a monster on dry wood. Phenomenal carry.
