I had been waiting for the release of this ball since I first threw the original. I am a big fan of the Black Widow Solid so I knew this would be a good ball choice for me.

We got this in Tuesday and I proceeded to drill two of these so I could get a good read on the ball. The first one I drilled had a pin of 3" to 4" and a top weight of 3.25 oz. I drilled it with the pin above the bridge and the mass bias about 1 1/2" from my thumb hole. I took it out to the lanes along with a solid that I had just drilled the same way to see what kind of difference I would get. The Pearl was was about 4 to 5 feet longer than the solid but made a much sharper turn at the break point. The Pearl also outhooked the Solid by a tota l of about 4 or 5 boards. When this ball really shinned was when the lanes started to carry down a little. When the Solid started to squirt a little in the carry down, the Pearl still made a great move to the pocket. The carry was identical to the Solid which for me was excellent.

With the second Widow Pearl I chose one with a 2" to 3" pin and 2 1"2 oz top weight. I drilled the pin below the ring finger with the cg kicked out about 3/4" in and the mass bias 2 1/2" to the right and below my thumb hole. I started on a different pair to compare the reactions of the two Pearls. The second Widow Pearl started up about earlier than the first and also had a smoother breakpoint. The second ones reaction reminded me alot of the solid but with about 4 to 5 boards more total hook. Both carried great and were very predictable.

Overall I was fairly impressed with the Black Widow Pearl. It will make a nice addition to your arsenal. If you liked the original Black Widow you will like this one. If you didn't like the original chances are you won't like the Pearl. If you don't have either one I suggest going with the Pearl. You can always change the surfcae to get the reaction you are looking for.

I have to admit i am dissapointed in the BWP. I was expecting much more of a backend punch. I layed it out with the pin 1/2" right & 1/2" up from ring finger. Cg 1" righ of the centerline. Mb just to the right of the thumb hole. Pin length is right @ 2.5". Our center is using a fairly dry pattern this summer so i expected a huge backend. I have above avg. speed (16.5-17.3) avg-above avg revs. spanding on center dot pushing out to 13 @ arrows out to 7, and it just didnt have the cajones to get back to the pocket. I finally had to play 4 boards right of center out to 9 @ arrows out to 4 @ break point just to get it back to the pocket.  For me this ball will have to be used as an extremely short pattern.

I just bought the Black Widow Pearl, great compliment to the original. Ball is extremely smooth, & very strong back end. Anyone purchasing this ball will enjoy it greatly. This is buy far the best pearl out. I recommend you go to your local pro shop & get this ball!! Bowled on Wednesday, scores were: 220, 229, & 234 & this was with a weak drilling. In closing, congratulations to all the staff @ Ebonite International for making such a great ball!!

P.S.
KEEP ON ROLLING!!!!

OMG!!! This ball is exactly what I wanted. It goes long and turns very hard to crush the pins. This ball keeps the pins very low. The pin action is unbelievable, I mean more than my No Mercy and that is almost cheating, lol. But It doesn't over-react one bit. On a fresh house shot, oil about 41 feet, I can easily play 10 to 7, or 20 to 3, and this ball will come screaming back. Also (which is a big plus) the ball looks amazing. The red and black is to die for. I love this ball so much and I think it will take my average from 215 to atleast 225+!!! Thanks again Hammer for making the best =)

Very impressed with this ball.
details: 3.5 pin distance
Layed out for skip flip
15 lbs
PAP  5.25
RPM  200/225
speed  13.5/14.5
Very consistent getting thru the heads, great read thru the mid lane, hard snap into the pocket.First game right out of the box 225 ,plus I won the strike pot (54.00)on my Thursday night league.  It normally takes me about10-15 games to get confident with a new ball but it seems like i,ve been throwing this ball for the last six months. Tonight,I thought I'd compare it to my favorite league balls.Friday night league(Med.oil) First game, Action Attack 204, second game,BWP 224 third game Radical Inferno 208. The only detractor was this ball does not like dry at all, burns up quickly when the lanes are fried. I'm looking forward to a NABI tournament this weekend. If you are like me with low speed and rpm's this ball will give you a very consistent reation, you'll really like this pearl.

I purchased this ball last week and wasn't sure on what it would do.  At first, the ball skidded too much, so I used a green scotch bright pad to dull the surface.  What a move!  I'm a down and in player and really I do not like to cover a lot of boards.  For me, this ball holds the line length wise and turns to the pocket, without over-reaction.  It doesn't over flip (ie... burnout) and the only issue may be carry down, if you don't put a lot of hand in it.

Last Sunday, I shot 1240 in five games, not bad.  This was practice, but the lanes were freshly oiled, to a league shot.  Last night, shot 299 first game, in my scratch league.

The ball, clears the heads nicely, with a strong backend.  It's not a flip, but a strong arc/flip.  The ball doesn't die and the pins get knocked low and hard.  Usually, there are no pins on the deck, they get explode when the ball hits.

Great job Hammer, let's see how the longevity will be with this ball.

very interesting ball
details- pin is 1/2" up and 3/4"right of the right finger and cg is bout 3-4" below and a little to the right. mass bias is bout 5" from pin down and right
im a tweener bout 330 revs and throw it about 16-17 mph
i played from about the 15 board out to the 8 and the ball crushed the pocket but if i hit the oil on the outside it wouldnt fully come back leaving a split but thats what i was looking for, a ball that if thrown incorrectly will not over exert itself and burn out. i shot 230, 235, and 225 with that ball today its reaction is long and hard producing amazing hit, but it needs a consistnet throw with the way it is drilled. i have never thrown a hammer ball before but this is by far one of the best.

BWP #1
5x3 with xh - this provided clean move through the heads with two distinct reactions, skid flip or skid hard ark. The BWP was excellent on house and good on the cheetah. Depending on surface and bowler transition was easy to read.

5x6 - this provided better control on the short patterns with speed. when speed was lowered the surface had to be hit with abralon in order to blend reaction down lane.

Overall the BWP is awesome. The flip is not for the meek at times but will help when the widow is too early. I loved this ball with a stronger release and covering boards. The control and clean roll were phenom.

more to come....

Lane Conditions: Medium Oil
Typical Conditions: House Shot
Type of Lane: All Synthetic
What part of the lane did you play? Second Arrow
Did the ball track out? Normal
Weight of bowling ball: 16
Surface of bowling ball: Factory/Box
Likes: This ball hits harder than the original Black Widow. It's like you have a 100% chance of getting a strike with this ball almost every time you hit the pocket.
Dislikes: Sometimes the ball can be a little over aggressive, and sometimes the ball hangs and doesn't come back, but that could be from not throwing right every now and then.

I had this ball drilled with the smooth arc layout. Pin under ring finger with cg kicked out a bit and the HMB is bwlow the thumb. I will normally use this ball on house shots when oil is light, medium and sometimes heavy. If the lanes are light, it is best to play the lanes using the third arrow. If the lanes are about medium, it is best to play about straight up 2nd arrow. If the lanes are heavy, I would suggest using the regualr Black Widow, but if you don't have one, use the Black Widow Pearl and play it straight up somewhere between 1st and 2nd arrow. I have average, maybe above average revs. I throw the ball on average between 16-17 mph, but I can speed it up a little if I need to. If you have the original Black Widow, go out and get the Black Widow Pearl.

Once again this proves that "Nothing hits like a Hammer!"

This ball hits harder than the original Black Widow. This ball is strong on the backend. You can see the ball revs as it goes down lane. I drilled this ball up with the pin above the fingers with the CG kicked out 1 1/2 inches, and the mass bias at 45 degrees. I shot some good scores with this ball. 275,238,210,245,258. It did not leave hardly any 10 pins. this is one ball that I will have in my bag.

The more I use this ball the more I seem to like it. I've gotten over 50+ games on it for sure and it hasn't showed any signs of slowing down yet. It seems to recover almost every time that I throw it too far out and smashes the pocket. It hits like a truck, no doubt. The lanes that we play on when freshly oiled are probaby medium oiled at best and it works great on those conditions. I still use the out of the box finish and it works great for me. It seems to me that it could run into problems in heavy oil, but probably not anything that sanding it couldn't fix. This ball is definately not for light oil though, not at all. Overall I am loving this ball, and was worth every bit of the $160 that I have into it. Great job Hammer.

I drilled this guy to go long and flip.  It was a little hard to control so I hit the surface with 2000 Abralon and that seemed to smooth out the reaction.  It's a nice ball with lots of backend.  Update.  This ball is great.  It recovers from anywhere and is very mid laneish with the cover scuffed a little.

Just got this ball drilled up a little bit ago. I bowled on Pro Avalin Synthetic Lanes at Southwest Bowl in Urbana and I talked it over and we thought about it and we drilled it to go long but also have that arching action on the backend. When I threw his it was drilled similar to what we got on mine and I was in awww. So we went in there drilled it up and we moved the pin a little more out then was on his and that sucker was beautiful. So we have to try it on wood lanes which i will bowl on later tonight and I will write a review on that.

THE BLACK WIDOW PEARL...

my bwp pearl is drilled w/ the pin over my bridge with the cg right under my bridge and the mb in the thumb (pap is 4.25>x.625^ and about 450 rpm and meduim side rotation). The bwp is a great ball from hammer. Its aggresive  off dry boards and gets great length. Great for medium oil and maybe some short patterns.

Drilling: 5" pin to pap - Mass Bias: 60*

I drilled this ball as a last minute decision 30min before I had to leave for bowling tonight. I started the first to games with my t-road solid and started having trouble at the end of the second game. Start of the third game I made one last adjustment with the t-road, opened then put it away. Took out the Widow Pearl and ran the last 11 without ever throwing it before. This ball is suprisingly smoother than my original widow and a lot more forgiving. When I hit the dry I thought it was going to just jump up on me but it just rolled smoothly into the pocket.

Overall I would say that this ball is very strong, and amazingly controllable at the break point. It is the most controllable pearl ball that I have thrown since the Storm Agent.

Great Ball!!! Everyone should drill one of these!!!

Drilling  5 1/2" pin to PAP 75 degree layout

I am really starting to like this ball, so far I have had a 279, 299 and 300 with it. Very predictable reaction with lots of pin action. Surface is 4000 abralon with ebonite factory polish. I highly recommend getting this ball for medium to light oil.

Just bought black widow pearl and just got off a 12hr.shift and had not thrown it yet.don't know oil pattern but would call it med oil with less on 8 out.Started standing on 30 and swinging through 15 out to 10[right handed]staying behind the ball,215 game.Moved 5 boards right on approach and went down and in over 9th bd.with a little belly,245 game.stayed there for a 279 game[10 pin in the 7th].The ball gave me a 3 board zone and did not over react off the dry. What a ball,I might have to buy another.Ball has a 3pin set above ring finger,4 1/2 inches from pap and cg out rt.a little with mb half between track and val.Surface was left in box condition. You better get one.

I had the ball drilled leverage with the mass bias swing out slightly on the left of my thumbs. A little balance hole was also required.

Initially I kinda of like the ball, subsequently I kinda of find the ball rather weak to the pocket. However I realised it was my release that cause a difference in the backend.

Eventually I found that if I send the ball out with about 45 degree tilt, the ball would hit the pocket with enormous energy and there is always a messenger, head pin to sweep the entire lane. However even with the messenger there is occassional stubborn pin 8. The pin actions I received looked similar to the video demo by buddiesproshop.

I also found with the mass bias out, I hardly encounter rolling over the thumb hole. And with this drilling, I realised that if the tilt is minimum the ball would react pretty slowly and something even hardly.

The review might be too lengthy as I hardly bowl or got new equipment for the past few years. I beginning to fall in love with the game all over again.

I purchased a Black Widow Pearl about a month ago. I really love it.  First, my ball:
15 lbs 3 oz
Top Wt. 2.75 oz
Pin out 3 - 4
Drilling - pin below fingers at 5” from PAP and mass bias near the vertical axis line

I bowl on mostly mostly two different house shots: one medium and one medium to dry.  On the medium house shot the ball easily gets through the heads and has a strong but controllable move throw the pocket. I usually play 12 out to 5 and carry very well leaving virtually no ten pins.

On the medium to dry shot, usually can get one game out of it before it gets too dry and I have to put the ball back in the bag and go to my Cherry Vibe.

Great Ball.  This is my first Hammer and my Cherry Vibe is my second.  I love both balls.  I don't know why it took so long for me to try Hammer but I'm looking forward to trying another ball from Hammer in the future.

This ball changed my game completely. I purchased the Black Widow Pearl at the beginning of Sept of 07. I usually have an avg of 180 - 185. I started using this ball in my Tuesday and Saturday leagues. Well I have now a 197 avg. in the Tuesday league and a 198 avg in the Saturday league. I have 8 200 games in the Tuesday league and at least 1 every night in the Saturday league. I also bowled my first ever 700 series (717). To say the least, this ball is working great. Thanks so much!!

Picked this up to compliment my BW solid in the later games when the solid isn't getting enough length.  I drilled the pearl with the All Purpose drilling (same as my solid).  This ball definitely goes longer than my solid.  The pearl covers more boards in the last 10ft than anything I've ever thrown before. Man o Man!  When this ball is in the pocket it carries very well.  I've just been having trouble getting used the huge backend movement I get.
I hooks as much as my solid, but it's all in the last 10-15 ft. Whereas the solid is more even.  Hopefully the pearl will settle down a bit, but so far I really like this ball to compliment the solid.

Drilled My BWP up last week and figure its time to review it

Drilled the ball same as my solid black widow #1 layout pin centered above bridge with the Pin a little higher on the BWP then BW. OOB at 4000 this ball really does skid flip. It had a considerable more backend then the BW. I first tried it on a broken down THS after a league got done. I basically couldnt get enough left. I could miss right all i wanted and it would come back the only Out of Bounds was the gutter. Taming it down I took it to 2000 like my BW and it really helps it rolls more predictible but still gets the great length. I bowled last night with it and had back to back games of 266-268 with 18 in a row. I honestly can say this ball is a great piece to have in your arsenal to open up the lanes. It compliments the Black Widow very well. Thank you Hammer for putting out such a great balll.

got my BWP drilled using layout #2 on hammer's site. left in OOB condition. let me first say that im probably more a stroker than tweener. I have lower revs. MY 1st hammer ball and I am impressed. This ball hooks alot in the heavier conditions. My 1st game with it was embarrasing you know trying to figure it out but after that my games have increased 20-30 pins! The backend is agressive, yet the breakpoint is controllable and predictable using my layout. The ball hits like a train and looks awesome as well (thumbs up) Just dont use this ball in Fried up lanes it will not work well. When I tried this ball on dry, it doesnt hook much. I really cant say the pearl is a "violent" ball just yet. I plan onleaving it in OOB unless i feel i need a change. It does give some stone 9's once in a while but overall, GREAT BALL EBONITE!

Great ball!

I've just been getting back in to the game over the past 6 months, re-learning my hook.  I'm very pleased so far with the reaction of this ball (except, of course in dry conditions).  I'm a medium-rev tweener.
My average has increased rather rapidly with this ball.  I rolled a 227 last week as my first 200+ game since getting back into it.

Pro's -
Very predictable break-point
Strong arc into the pocket
Beautiful back-end and carrying power - throw it right and its a guaranteed strike.

Con's -
As expected, reactive coverstock requires a thorough cleaning after every series as this ball soaks it up.

This is definitely a MEDIUM Oil ball.  It is a spare ball on fresh/heavy oil and will hook into the next county on dry conditions.

I love the Black Widow, on my second one.  I wore out the first one, that doesn't happen too often for me, but I threw the Black Widow a lot.

I was worried about this ball being too long.  There seems to be more oil than I am used to in the Oklahoma City area, compared to Houston.  That and I bowl regionals, I didn't want this ball to be too long, too squirty.  I drilled my fav layout, pin 4 1/2 inches from my PAP with the mass bias at 45 degrees.  The pin is just below my fingers, mass bias is about 2 1/2 inches right of my thumb hole.  I had to use an extra hole, which I put 3 inches below my PAP on my VAL.  The hole is 29/32 and 3" deep.  The ball had 3 oz top weight before drilling and the pin is 3" from the CG.  The pin, cg, mass bias were/are all pretty much in line, so no surprises here.

This layout should make the ball rev up fairly soon.  I was hoping for a similar motion to my Black Widow, just sharper at the spot.  That is what I got and then some.  On mediums this ball is a monster.  It goes left really hard.  On heavy oil, it squirts some, but this ball really isn't meant for heavy oil.

I have used it on Viper on synthetics, house shot on synthetics, and house shot on wood.  The wood shot was hooking more than usual, I throw my Fury here most of the time.  But lately, the BWP has been so much better.  The Fury won't make the corner from 4th arrow.  There is enough oil in the middle, but the Fury just won't recover enough.  Flat 10 a lot.  From about the same spot on the lane and same target the BWP just crushes pins.  Hitting power may be better than the Black Widow and that is saying something for me.

On fresh/heavy oil this ball should probably stay in the bag, unless you have slow ball speed.  You could scuff the ball for use on oil, but that's not what this ball was really meant for.  The BWP is all about the mediums.  You got to have some oil, this ball is too aggressive for dry lanes, unless your ball speed is pretty high.

The Boomers are gonna love this ball, it will recover at least 2-8 boards more than the original.  With a longer layout, this ball could be awesome from 4th arrow and a little carry down, like a second shift.  The tweeners will love this ball for the sharp break point.  May be too long for fresh oil, but just great most of the time, specially on wood.

The straighter players are going to use this ball on late shifts, late in tournament blocks, or when the lanes are just about gone.  Keep it shiny, should get great length.  A little Beans Secret Sauce should do the trick.

Very good carry power, maybe better than the first.  I like the balls that try to run over the 8 pin through the pin deck, this is one of those balls.  This ball should be around for quite awhile, it is that good.

Hope this helps you!!!

I've have the pearl Widow for a while now and have shot some big scores with the ball.  I was surprised that this ball is weaker than I had thought.  I drilled the ball with the pin above fingers and the CG kicked out.  At first the ball was long and exteremly snappy.  I had a hard time controlling the break point.  I ended up using 2000 Abralon on the surface.  This took off the sheen and smoothed at the reaction.  The ball still goes long but gives me a nice arc on the backend with power.  This ball is a great compliment to the original Black Widow which I just bought.  The original has a much stronger cover and has more overall hook.  They compliment each other prefectly.

Ball 16lb 1oz with 3.25 top
Pin 3.5
Drilling pin set at reverse 45 to cg with pin set on midline just below the bridge.
Weight hole at PAP
Static Weights 1/4 finger with 3/8 positive side 1/2 top

The pearl was my first Hammer.  I've heard some good things about this ball and when I got this ball as a gift I was open to seeing just what it could do.

The ball displays good length and a strong backend charge.  I can bang X after X when I'm on the line and this ball can even hold that line longer than some others in it's class.  When the line begins to break down and it's time to move it's better to change balls than to try and find a shot with this thing.  I can move left or right and this thing will not carry a tune after mowing down racks for several frames.  My Widow displays one of the narrowest margins of use that I have ever seen in a ball I've used.

I think the ball is a very nice looking ball but looks don't make the pins fall. Otherwise I find this ball to be rather unimpressive.

Second Hammer I've ever owned, I date back to the Sledge Hammer.......  Picked up the BWP 1/18/08, bowled with it next day.  First game out of the box 265, Front nine, left light pocket 4-7-10 split, finished night out with 707, not the finish I would have liked to have but I will take it.  Ball drilled to go long and hits like a MAC Truck.  Pearlized cover stock for me is the way to go, dull sets up too quick for me, I'm not a power player just down and in .  Just like any other ball out there you still need to make the shot, can't just set it down and walk away.  This may not be my last hammer and it probably won't take so many years in between products.

Thanks Hammer and again to my pro shop, Brian Hatcher, Maximum Potential, Harbor Lanes, St. Clair Shores MI.

Due to the airlines being entirely to friendly with my Angular One I had to find something to replace it and after all of the stellar reviews I decided to give this ball a try. I have to say that either my vision needs to be checked or the people reviewing this ball in BTM and Bowlers Journal are a little "too friendly" with the people over at Hammer. This ball is an absolute POS, there are to many pearl balls that are far better at doing what this ball was supposed to. If you want something for medium lanes pick up a Cherry Vibe, it's much cheaper and a far better ball. I was severely disappoined since this core was amazing for me when I had my big blue pearl.

Personally I'd just drill up a solid black widow or bite with a very weak layout it'd probably work much better than this paper weight.

Spec:
15.03lbs
3 oz top
3 inch pin

Layout: Pin over ring, MB kicked out 2 inches right, 5 x 5 layout
        (Advice given from Brian Graham)

Pic: http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/1764/bwpgr4.jpg

Pattern:
AMF Synthetic Lanes
38ft, 8 to 8 medium-heavy oil, 7 and out dry

The BWP had good length with a nice hard arcing backend reaction. I played 8 to 5 and had a great shot. I was using an up the back release and the ball read the midlanes wonderful, and when it hit the dry the ball just bounced and tore the pocket to shreds. I could play up 8 or 9 direct and still had good carry. But if i got it in a board or more it left a flat ten or 2 pin. Next i tried to get more around the ball using more tilt and i was able to throw the ball from deeper inside say 12 or 13 and get it down the lane out to 6 or 5 and it came roaring back. I was amazed. The ball is impressive and can be tweaked by altering the cover.

Another great ball from Hammer.

Now THIS is what I call a Hammer.  This is by far the greatest ball I've thrown for medium to heavy oil patterns.  This ball has a descent pin placement that allows it to be very aggressive.  The drill pattern allows the ball to hook throughout the lane, creating a gentle arc straight to the pocket.

Unlike the original Black Widow, the coverstock is nowhere near high maintenance.  It gives a consistent roll every time and hits like a truck.  If anyone remembers the Hammer equipment made by Faball, such as the 3D Offset Super Hook, you'll notice some similarities.  Ebonite has done a good job with carrying on the legacy that is Hammer.  This ball will be in my bag for a long time to come.

Specs: 15lb. 2oz.
Top weight 3 1/2 oz.
style: Tweener

I had this ball drilled with the #1 drilling for this ball with medium track pin above and between the fingers pap is 5 1/2" and a 4" balance hole.

Now to the good stuff the review itself. I absolutly love this ball i also have a AMF 300 Nighhawk and it was a little to hooky for me on lanes i bowl on so i got this for it's length.  It has very good length a sharp breakpoint and massive backend reaction.  I just bowled with it for the first time last night on my league and i bowled a 127 just trying to figure out where to throw it, but it picked up the second and third game 182 for the second and a 257 the third game for a descent 566 series. I have a good feeling there are some good games to come with this ball.  Well i hope this review will help the tweeners of the bowling world to choose this ball.  Thanks for reading my review Brian.

I have been bowling for a total of 6 months. I received the ball as a C-mas gift and have been using it ever since. As a new bowler, I have been experiencing different ways to release the ball. I am happy with the technique I use. I am throwing a 15lb BW pearl with finger tips. I am currently in a league at Clearwater AMF lanes and holding a steady average of 160. I have had 2 clean games over 200. I love the black widow series. My spare ball is a black widow clear ball. I am addicted to bowling and want to one day make a strong career out of it. I have a long way to go, but the hammer will stay in my bag for a long time. The ball is awesome.

this ball is a monster on the right conitions, however it will not ripple on heavy oil, so i just need to remember i'm wasting my time trying to get this ball to hook in oil.

Hammer Black Widow Pearl
Weight: 15#
Pin: 3-4"
Top Weight: 3.5 oz.

Layout:
5" Pin at 12 o'clock, Mass Bias at 45 degrees. No Weight Hole.

First Impressions:
This is a very strong angular motion ball. The ball gets decent length with incredible recovery on the backend. The angularity is simply incredible! The BWP is good for medium conditions but is very suitable for a THS.

General Thoughts:
The first thing I notice about the ball was how much length it got, so much that it almost scared me due to the fact that I didn't feel it would recover. The BWP is very suitable for many different types of bowlers. I've witnessed everyone from women stroking it up the 2nd arrow to men being super crankers able to make this ball work. A ball this versatile is a big plus!

Comparison/Contrast:

Black Widow Pearl vs. Black Widow Bite

The Pearl gets more length and angularity while the Bite gets the award for being able to handle heavier volumes of oil and reads the oil sooner. When the Bite becomes too much ball, a simple ball change to the Pearl makes it easier to play the lanes, which in turn results in higher scores. This could definitely be a great 1-2 ball combo for almost any bowler! Throw in the BW Spare and you've got a true Hammerhead's dream!

Conclusion:
If you desire length and angularity on the backend then look no further than getting yourself a Black Widow Pearl.

I've been bowling for over 35yrs I can say I really missed the hitting power of Hammer equipment. So I decided to switch from columbia, track, dynothane equipment and go back to Hammer. First I got the Black widow bite last month then last week a Pearl. WOW is all I can say! Two different houses with completly different conditions and a 278/725 series and a 264/713 in the first 6 games! I'm not easily impressed at 43yrs old but the proof is in the results.
Very predictable roll, layout is pin above ring finder is my standard layout.
I can crank it with the young guns and go down the boards and still no over under issues like other equipment. Between the Bite and the Pearl I may get to stop carring 6 balls for league night.
For the poster who couldnt get there's to move I would say you may have a defective one because mine is awesome and i've  been over a 200 ave bowler since I was 16 and have bowled all around the world when I was in the military. I could have used this one in Korea and England to make some money.

Got mine in a trade. This is how its drilled pin above middle finger cg next to fingers nd mass bias in thumb. First time I used it 224,258,289, 771. Ball is really smooth than a angular motion in the backend. Since then alot of high scores with it 279,290,289. I reconmend this ball to anyone that likes hammer or has a descent revs.

Alright, ive had my bw pearl for quite a while now and I am more the impressed by this ball. Im not going to get into the technical specs of my ball because frankly I just dont have much time. Anyway, if you can manage to find the proper strike line for your style of bowling, you will consistently hit strike after strike. I personally bowl the 2 finger "palm" delivery. I only throw this ball at around 13MPH but produce an insane amount of revs. Ive tried many different balls, whether be the Brunswick Twisted Fury, or the Ebonite NVS. By far the bw pearl hits harder then any of these balls. The only problems I've ever had with this ball is that currently its been breaking hard into head pin causing for the leave if a 3-6-10, but today i corrected that with a relatively heavy polish. All in all, I LOVE THIS BALL.

Rev Rate: +375
Ball Speed: ~16 through pin deck (~20 off hand)
Layout 5.5x5 Pin Above
Surface: Box
Expectations: To fit inbetween Venom and Bite

Impression:

My initial impression was that this ball simply jumped more off the dry both left to right and front to back than the venom. It seemed to cover the same boards as the venom just the shape looked different. This is not what I wanted from this ball. I wanted it stronger than the venom and weaker than the bite and the same arcy shape as the venom. So I decided to adjust the surface to 1000 with no polish. And boom... I got what I wanted. Now it reads the mids better and does not jump of the dry as much. It plays in the middle of the venom and bite.

Well I don't own this ball any more because it was stolen one night after I finished leagues using this ball and it just dominated. This is a great ball, great for using outside of the lanes in the drier areas. I threw it around the 5 to 10 boards and like to watch it ride the line with the gutter and just hook into the pocket. Not to say, this ball is very versatile and very forgiving. You can miss your mark by 10 boards and it'll still pound the pocket. But now I have the Storm Rapid Fire Pearl as the substitute and that ball is just awesome.

Most worthless piece of junk I have ever owned. I bought one and won one at a tournament drawing. The first was drilled with the label layout and then the next one was drilled for the all purpose skid/flip with the pin centered directly above the finger tips. Those are not the aggressive layouts for this ball but it was too aggressive for a house shot. I hate the drive. My speed, revs, and mark had to be the EXACT meaning 100% same every time. Every angle and line on every pattern EXCEPT something over 45 foot long, the ball was too aggressive on the backend. This ball has given me split after split after split enev whenever I hit the pocket solid. I would not recommend this ball to anyone unless they do not crank it and your looking for something that will move hard. The closest motion to this ball in my arsenal is THE ONE original but the pin reaction and backend motion are completely different for me, and I have the one drilled for the skid/flip motion which is the same as the black widow i won.

Good ball but not for a house shot. It pushes through the oil well, but it jumps too hard off the dry boards. But usually use it during my 1st set at most tournaments.

This was originally the wife's ball. She loved it. Long and strong. She shot 299, 300, & 790 something with it.
When she was done with it I had it pluged and redriled. It has become my benchmark ball. For me it doesn't react in the oil. But is a monster on dry wood. Phenomenal carry.

Stats in profile. Pin above middle finger, mb 1.5" right of centerline, offset "thumbhole" drilled over mb. oob surface. This is my benchmark strong ball on a house shot. Ball revs up hard in the midlane and has a strong smooth motion on the backend. Starts up sooner than my Emerald Vibe but goes longer than my Jigsaw Corner, all at same surface/ layouts.

I absolutely LOVE this ball. I had this ball drilled to "snap" on the backend. In less oily conditions this ball is perfect w/skid action to give you just the length you need, then, on the backend it takes off like a beast. If you bowl in oily conditions i would recommend the Bite. I have had this ball for about a 1 1/2 years and I'm planning on getting a second one.

I have had the Black Widow Pearl for almost 3 years now, but I bowl only casually.

I used to use just an old fashioned straight ball, much like the houseballs. Then one day after a 3-4 year break from bowling, I started up again.

I had the fortune of bowling next to a man who was throwing tremendous curves. I asked how he did it. His first response was, "Here, give this Black Widow a try" and handed me the original Black Widow.

After a couple of hours with him and his Black Widow, I was hooking like a pro. He then tells me to wait a month and get the Black Widow Pearl . I did.

Wow! I love this ball. It goes down the lane, even in the oiliest conditions and then hooks in for the kill.

My Average for slamming a straight ball, down the lane was around 180. Once I got my BWP, and the short tutorial, I am constantly hitting 225-240.  And I am saving a lot of wear and tear on my old arm.

Thanks Hammer and to thanks to Phil for opening my eyes!

Length: Long

Volume: Light to medium

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

COMMENTS

Likes: For the most part I really like this ball.  I roll average revs with modest side roll.  Pin is 1/2" up and to the right of the ring finger hole, which seems to be pretty typical.  For me and another bowling buddy who uses it, this ball hits the pocket hard...very hard.  I do throw a heavy ball but this thing crushes like no other ball in my bag.

Dislikes: It reads the lane pretty consistently when there is oil but it gets a bit cranky when the oil starts pushing down and the consistency for us both tends to drop off.  It's like our margin for error just gets smaller as the night goes on.  Yeah, I could be more consistent but my best balls forgive me and usually make me look good when I'm just a little off.     That low margin for error has left us both I don't know how many solid 8 and 9 pin leaves (and of course 10s).

Overall, I like this ball but it will take a bit of time to get used to the shot and when I should use it. I traded for this ball from a buddy who throws high revs and just could not control this ball at all on synthetic surfaces.  I found that I can straighten this ball out somewhat  with a lot of effort but then it just runs out too soon so what's the point?
