The Black Widow Venom features our High Mass Bias Gas Mask Core with Flip Block, paired with our new Lethal Bite Reactive cover. This combination gives Venom more length than any Widow to date, along with the fiercest backend available at this price point. Long and strong is a ridiculous understatement. Black Widow Venom is designed to get longer down the lane and then make the most aggressive backend move possible.

Box finish
Layout Pin 5.25" from PAP MB 2" right of center line and 3.5" below mid line.
This ball is really a MONSTER. Excellent control thru the front and very very strong motion at the end of the pattern. This ball should absolutely win an award for house shot ball of the year. I will give it a try on the Scorpion tonight and report back.

update-----
this ball is actually a monster on both the scorpion and shark patterns it really has a strong reaction at the end of the pattern. this layout produces over 7" of flare half in the oil half on the backend

just gave mine a roll today for the first time.  5" pin and 45 degree MB. balance hole on the PAP.  extremely clean through the heads, not unlike my Track Desert Heat, but when it hits the dry, it really does a hard left turn.  hook is very late and continuous through the pins, and had fantastic hit and carry, mainly leaving 9 pins until i got the reaction under control.  does need the dry to react, but it gave me good area as it recovered from anywhere out wide and held all day if pulled slightly.  bowled a 279 with my second game and was most impressed.  a great addition to my arsenal.

i just rolled my venom for the first time today and it is an amazing bowling ball. compared to the other "high performance" bowling balls that hammer has made this one is one of my favorites. this ball has a much later backend reaction than the other balls in the Black Widow series and it carries through the pins with tremendous ease. the combination of this amazing backend reaction and the late break of the ball makes this ball a must have for any style of bowler.

I just had the ball drilled up tonight. I threw a few games with it and was totally disappointed. The ball is drilled to go long with a hard snap on the backend. The lanes were pretty dry so I thought I could wheel the ball. I was wrong. I played straight up with it a few times and the just keep going and going and never moved. Im not sure if its the drilling or what. I had the same problem with the Bite. Maybe I should change pro shops. Ive been waiting for this ball only to be disappointed.

I drilled 2 of these up for customers and was very impressed with the performance. Drilled the first one up with a 4x4 and second one 5x4 and they both read the mid-lane real nice and had a great flip on the backend. The Bite rolled up too soon for me in the mid-lane so it used too much energy by the time it got to the head pin but this one actually conserves just enough energy to make the difference. I am very interested in punching one up as this ball looks great if your looking for a skid flip reaction.

I drilled the ball last weekend.Ball is drilled pin above middle finger. Bowled a tourney this weekend i got 9th out like 40 some not good. My first game i stood 28 then i moved a board left the next game 244. My third game the ball hooked to much went high 9 pin moved left again went back 10 and left a 4-9 288. 755 out of box isnt bad. This ball goes long and when it gets to the breakpoint its like someone kicks it left. My new favorite ball from hammer

I drilled my Black Widow Bite up with a 5 inch pin from my PAP with Mass Bias in the 45 degree angle. The ball goes long down the alley, however the hitting power on the backend is awesome. This ball has Excellent control thru the front and a very strong motion at the end of the pattern.
The Ball picks up nice in the mid-lane with a great flip on the backend.
This ball has a much later backend reaction than the other balls in the Black Widow series and it carries the pins low after hitting them. I shot games of 236, 278,245 first time throwing the ball in a tournament in Ohio.

Black Widow Venom
Lane Conditions: Medium Oil
Typical Conditions: House Shot
Type of Lane: All Synthetic
What part of the lane did you play? Third Arrow
Did the ball track out? Normal
Weight of bowling ball: 15
Surface of bowling ball: Polished
Likes: With the polish the ball does get down the lane better than the Black Widow Bite with a very similar motion in the backend. Has a very cool looking color combination, probably the best looking out of all the Widows.
Dislikes: Rolls to close to my Black Widow Bite, out of the box I threw the ball past the break point and had to apply surface, when I did that it was Identical to my Bite.

Lay Out: 3 3/8 X 4

Black Widow Venom is simply a polished version of the Black Widow Bite. If you are looking for the same reaction just slightly later on the lane, this is exactly what you need. Speed dominate players will throw it past their breakpoints but when you add surface it rolls just like a Bite, so you are better off getting the Black Widow Bite to start. Softer speeds will like the Venom better because it won't burn up so bad in the front part of the lane or when it drys out.

Comparing What's In My Bag:

Black Widow Bite Drilled the same rolls earlier with the same motion in the back end.

Angular One with same pattern gets down the lane better with a much sharper angle to the pocket.

Rev Rate: 375
Ball Speed: ~16 through pin desk (~20 off hand)
Layout: 5x5 Pin Above Ring (No weight hole)
Desired/Expected Reaction: Tamer than Black Widow Bite
Surface: Box

Overall impression:

This ball gives me an even reaction through the oil and off of the dry both left to right and front to back. Very archy for me. I dont pull it out on fresh conditions because if seems to not be strong enough.

I was surprized by the overall reaction as I thought it was going to be stronger than it is. I pull it out when the lanes have broken down sufficiently and I have lost carry because I have gotten to deep. I usually move right 3 or 4 boards with my feet when I take this ball out and play the same break point.

The ball hits good for me. It might hit better on a fresh condition with lower volumes of oil. But I have not found this anywhere. I have had this ball now for 6 weeks and it is considered a low/medium reaction for my arcy balls.

Hammer Black Widow Venom
Weight: 15#
Top Weight: 3.5 oz.
Pin: 2-3"

Layout:
4 3/4" Pin Above @ 12 o'clock. Mass Bias at 50 degrees. No Weight Hole.

First Impressions:

This ball definitely showed me a stronger version of the BWP. The downside to it was it reminded me alot of the Bite just with polish. The ball started burning up quite soon however, on a positive note, I could stand direct and not have to worry about the ball going through the beak.

Comparison/Contrast:

BWV vs. BWP

Both are quite clean through the heads whereas, the Pearl had the best reaction out of any Black Widow I've thrown. The Venom still tended to react sooner and burn up through the heads versus the Pearl that had great motion downlane and gave me tremendous backend reaction!

BWV vs. BWB

The Venom is a great compliment to the Bite and burns up just as much also! If you seek backend reaction more, the Venom is the preferred choice in my opinion.

Final Thoughts:

The Venom provides clean through the heads with exceptional backend performance yet, tends to burn up the more it is played in the puddle on a typical house shot

This ball is the best hammer ball i seen in a while.   I got mine pin over the ring finger and straight up with a little hole just to keep it from over reacting.   It stays at 2000 grit so its not so jumpy at the backend.   With the amount of oil I see I start around 12 to  5 but the one thing that this ball needs is dry boards the more the lanes brake in the better.   This ball is a most have for a high rev player if you can get one get one great ball.

Specs:
15.04lbs
3oz top
4 inch pin

Layout: Pin over ring with the Mass Bias 2 inches right of thumb

I heard that this ball is suppose to be like the pearlize version of the Bite. I would have to definitely agree. Compared to the Bite it saves more energy for the backend. The Bite for me rolled way too early and rolled out. The Venom on the other hand has the strong mid lane roll and a continuous backend.

I bowled a tournament at an old wood house. The condition was a typical house shot with OB 6 and out to the gutter. You had to think old school bowling on these lanes. For example, i would lay one shot down and the ball would roll super early and hook up. Then i would make a move left and the ball would go straight. I then remember back in the days how the wood would soak up and dry up in certain spots. I moved back to my normal spot where the ball hooked early and just threw it over the lay down spot i threw the ball previously. The ball sat online, and just rolled up and killed the pocket. The Venom fit great for this pattern since there was a good amount of volume up front and a very gradual backend.

I would say that the Venom is a great combo with the Black Widow Pearl. The best surface i like this ball is at 2000 abralon. I have to say that Jeff U @ Hammer is awesome. He gives great advice and suggestions. Jeff was a perfect replacement for Brian Graham.

Specs in profile. Got a chance to throw my new Venoms this morning on my ths. All were at oob 4000 factory finish.

Black Widow Venom #1
-4 x 4 3/8 Pin Up
Black Widow Venom #2
-5 x 4 1/2 Pin Up
Black Widow Venom #3
-6 3/8 x 6 3/8 Pin Up

My review:
BWV#1 is the earliest and smoothest of the three. BWV#2 is in the middle in terms of length and angularity. BWV#3 is the longest and most angular. From the few games i bowled with these, the difference between #1 and #3 is about 5 boards with my feet and 5 feet down the lane. I plan to adjust the surfaces on #1 and #2 to help differenciate these balls a little further. There is my 3 ball league arsenal for the season! Thanks to Monty Stratton and Bowlers Depot Oceanside!!!

*Surface adjust on #1 to 2000 abralon and #2 to 4000 abralon. Will post an updated review on difference between all three on ths.

THS

Likes: Strong finish
This is my first new ball since '85. This was due to having to leave the game for 25+ yrs. When I started back in July '10 after the layoff, my 27 yr old Black Hammer although good for the extreme outside down & in shot was just not finishing on the new conditions at any other angle. Even the AMF Gold Angle also from the early '80s and roughed up with green SB would not finish from inside 7 bd.
So time for something new.
Even though I was running a shop in SandyEggo when I had to leave, I had not really kept up with the changes in equipment, conditions, oils, patterns etc. It's a whole new game.
So based on the recommendation of a new bowling buddy, I went to see one of the local shops to get fitted and recommended for something new.
After watching me with the Hammer, knowing what conditions I was going to be bowling on and what I wanted to be able to do, he recommended the Venom. We went with 15# as my Black Hammer was 15-9 and knowing that the newer balls finish stronger we can reduce the weight and gain some control. (Back in the day I normally would stay between 15/15-8 for the gain in control.)
So he drilled it up with pin just above ring finger, HMB and CG to the right of the thumb.
I found the best place to use this at least for me is 12-13 bd. This actually gives me an area of about 4-6 bds to the right of there as the oil pattern seems to start at 9 so I can miss as far as the 7-8 bd and still finish in the pocket. Inside of 13 it is going brooklyn or worse if the shoulder was down.
My first time out with this I was trying to play 7-8 bd and coming in behind the head pin. After a couple of low deuces, I moved in to 12 and save for a pocket 8, pocket 7 and ringing 10 would have shot high 250.
A surgery issue on middle finger has kept me from coming back as fast as I would like, but practice sessions are back up in the 195+ range.
My black Hammer has now become my spare ball. Learning to let the ball do the work is new for this old school down & in shooter, but even this old dog has learned a few new tricks.
