Early review:

The acid has been a favorite and bench mark ball in the Hammer Line. Now that the JACKED is out. Prepare to get JACKED up.

Drilling 1: 4" pin with 5x4 drilling and XH (pin down)

Drilling 2: 4" pin with 6x5 drilling and XH (pin Up)

Drilling 1 read the house patterns quick and rolled heavy while drilling 2 allowed for a longer transition and aggressive back end. Out of box these balls were too much for use on THS but after a coat of factory polish the allowed for control of the right side of the lane.

However, either surface adjustment was easy to use. The carry and hitting power was great!

Review 2:

Took both balls out for practice. PLayed the WTBA 47' pattern. Definitely played tight with polish but easy to get to pocket. Carry a bit on off. After taking surface back to 1000 abralon, was able to control the pattern better as breakdown occurred. Definitely a ball that I would use with both surfaces depending on drilling layouts vs arsenal.

Quick off the spot...

I was excited about the release of the Jacked as the Acid has been such a money ball for me. The Jacked has the predictable approach of the Acid and that is as far as similarities go. When the Jacked got to the spot, it forgot to turn on the blinker to let the pocket know what was ahead...

I would highly recommend the Jacked if you looking for a "little more" umph. Some people love their Acid polished and some like it factory dull. If you were one that like it polished then by all means POLISH the Jacked. You will see a completely different ball than it is out of the box.

Don't be afraid to invest the money in the Jacked, you will not be sorry!

My layout was 4 1/2 off the Pap with cg shifted within the 1 inch square. Little factory polish and away we go.

Update from last post.

First night in the scratch league (typical house shot with quick transition) shot 234,238,244 for 716. Most impressive thing was the ball never rolled out and as they started to move, a few slight moves left and firm hand kept the Jacked in the pocket all night long! A caution of warning though if you get soft or miss the Jacked only knows one way to go.... LEFT!

This will make one hell of a christmas gift!

Layout 5 1/2 X 5 No Hole Pin Up

For me this ball has a lot of the same great characteristics of the Acid.  It has a very heavy roll.  So, compared to the Acid it picks up in the midlane a little quicker but still continues at the end of the pattern.  This ball does need some oil because of the heavy roll.  When you get on the right pattern with this ball the pins fly everywhere.  The hitting power of this ball stood out the most to me compared to the Acid.  Overall a nice addtion to the hammer line.

I like this ball. I had to take it to 2000 as it was too much for our house shot with 1000 out of the box. Depending on what else is going down the same pair of lanes, I get one to two games before I switch to my two Burns.

It has a short pin but we managed to get it above the ring finger. No 300's yet, but many 250's and 260's.

This ball is great in oil. The ball rev's up very well and a continuation in the mid lane with a very strong hitting punch in the pocket on the backend. I drilled my ball up with the pin below my ring finger and the mass bias at 45 degree. I came out of the gate with the ball 267, 259 245 for a 771 series.

I'm a collegiate bowler, in my 2nd year of eligibility. Last year, our team had an informal sponsorship from Brunswick, so we were allowed to use bowling balls from other companies. My favorite was the Rapid Fire from Storm. This year, we have an exclusive sponsorship from Hammer. With the release of the Jacked, it quickly took over the spot of my favorite ball.

This ball hits hard, and is extremely versatile. OOB is 1000 grit abralon, however the coverstock is very responsive to changes. For the two Vegas tournaments this year (Collegiate Shootout at Sam's Town, and the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitation at South Point), I had the ball sanded to 4000 grit abralon to act as my 3 ball. It gave the ball a little more distance than the OOB coverstock, but still read the lanes with a smooth enough arc to be controllable for the vast majority of the day. For the Collegiate Shootout, this was the ball I was with the entire day. Can go straighter while playing outside, and will recover for you while playing deep inside. Hands down the best ball Hammer has produced.

This rolls nice and strong. I bowl in a sport league and for the heavier and longer oil patterns is why i bought this ball or on the shorter patterns when the oil breaks down and there is a lot of carry down i go to this so it breaks sooner and is already its in roll prior the the carry down.

layout: pin 4 1/4" to pap and cg 3" to pap and a 7/8" balance hole 1" below pap.

I had a jigsaw and to me the JACKED out performs it. I wanted to get a controllable predictable arc with the layout i chose, i didn't want a monster hook swing layout. I am a stroker and on heavier patterns or carry down this ball is awesome. On a house shot this ball will swing a nice strong arc.

The video was the first day i had the ball and the kegel sport pattern called the Beaten Path was just laid down so i tried playing more direct in the heavy stuff then moved aim 2-3 boards over and this ball has great continuation. Soon i will post a video on a house shot.

Had horrible results with a Virtual Gravity. My Pro Shop (Di Tolla's at Bowler City in Hackensack) advised me that all the balls I most liked were symmetrical. After watching me roll, they picked this ball and drilled it up to do what I had bought the VG to do. I'm very happy. I like to play more direct and throw about 17 mph (down the lane) so I'm looking for a ball that will not overreact but that will quickly get into a roll and drive hard from about the 10 board in long oil. With the pin under drilling, in broken-down shorter oil, I'm able to even stand left foot on 24 and throw 12 at the arrows down to maybe 10-to-8 at the break point and still carry ridiculously. First 10 games using this ball (don't ask me why I left it in the bag one game) I struck 91 times (I'm coming back from injury and averaging 210 after 218 pre-injury). This is a very heavy rolling, very predictable, surprisingly versatile ball for a higher speed, medium rev bowler. Based on my results in dryer conditions, I assume it will also be very good for other types with different drilling.

I recently picked up the Raw Hammer Jacked and all I can say is wow.  I traditionally play down and in and I was looking for a ball with a controllable arc.  The Jacked delivered oh so well.  I'm a 180-190 average bowler using Columbia Flipside equipment that is certainly out dated now so it was time to move up and play with big boy toys. The only criticism I have is that the ball has a tendency to drive a little too hard.  For instance I threw the same line for 8 straight strikes and on the ninth I left a solid 8 pin as the ball drove right past it.  And then again in the 10th frame. It's only a minor line change to fix the problem but still.  Never-the-less Hammer delivers a fantastic ball yet again.

I have been bowling for almost 20 years, 19 to be exact since i was 13 and i have been threw numerous amounts of bolwing balls,and since i was 15 i always had at least 17 bowling balls and through all the balls i have been through i have never taken one and threw a 265, 300, and a 245.....That was until i got ahold of the jacked raw hammer....I took this ball out of the box and threw a 810 series, this ball is everything it is hyped up to be and i love it....Out of the 18 balls i own now this is in my top 3

Hammer RAW HAMMER JACKED

Layout: Pin Below Bridge with CG slightly kicked out. No weight hole was required.

First Impressions:

This ball can really handle the puddle in the middle. Very early revving ball in the mid-lane but keeps its continuation without bleeding energy too soon.

Comparison/Contrast:

Jacked vs. Jigsaw

Both can handle the puddle in their own right. The Jacked however has more energy retention due to the Raw Hammer Assault core and its symmetrical shape. For me the Jigsaw would lose too much energy where the Jacked was a breath of fresh air when the lanes were surprisingly slick. Heavier volumes of oil and I believe the Jigsaw is your answer.

Jacked vs. Jigsaw Corner

The Corner will give you more angular reaction by far than the Jacked. The Jacked has more of a mid lane early arching reaction shape than the Corner. When the Jacked has bled out energy too early, I can go to the Corner and know I will not be lacking any backend to the pocket at all.

Overall Thoughts:

If you want to keep your arsenal simple, I would drill a Jacked for heavier volumes of oil when the lanes tend to be slicked up more than normal. I would have a Burn as a benchmark ball just incase the Jacked is too much and a trusty spare ball. You could easily have a very open and shut case for putting together a 3-ball arsenal. In terms of oil, the Jacked handles the puddle very well but not an overload of it though. A really good ball on slicked up typical league conditions though when the shiny stuff is NOT making the corner.

This ball is a beast. I picked this ball up a month ago, and first night out with it I shoot 278-258-300 for an 836 series.

I got it drilled with the pin under the ring finger and cg stacked. This is the first ball I've shot 300 & 800 out of box with.

Good mid lane reaction doesn't over react for me and Lets me play straight up ten all night long

This ball was a give away in a recent pro-am tournament for an extra $50 fee.  So now, 10 of my bowling friends have one.

In comparison to my Nasty, I don't see the stronger back end from their Jacked.  Now, this may be my revs versus theirs.  But, which would you say was the stronger ball on the back end?  So far, my Nasty shows more.

I only have about 15 games on this ball and so far I like it. This ball hooks as much as any ball I have and the carry is great.  I use it on fresh oil and I can't seem to get three good games out of it due to THS medium oiled lanes. When the lanes transition to dry, it is tough controlling this ball.  Oily to Medium-Oily with or without carry-down, this very good ball (with its Black Widow cover).

Drilled my Jacked with a straight up label drill, 1:30 pin.  Very smooth, very predictable roller.  Excellent benchmark ball to build an arsenal around.

Likes:   For a senior PBA player, I'm more of a high rev player, but average in general.   Having a high track, I've had problems in the past with moving the pin down, but Eugene McCune recommended a drilling on this, and was able to drop the pin below the fingers successfully.   This ball allowed me to sit in a little in heavier oil, yet read the lane very well, that actually created an improved shot as lanes broke down.    Whereas my Mission would have me starting around 8-10, I was able to move into about 12 an keep the ball in much longer, yet the recovery on this ball was outstanding.    From what I was told, this was the ball that Bob Kammer Jr. just shot 900 with.    Definately would recommend this ball.

Dislikes:   This ball seemed to wear out a little early, and with only about 40-50 games, going to rejuvenate it, though I'm not 100% convinced it's the ball wearing out or my game just going thru a bit of a slump.

COMMENTS

This was the first ball I bought when I was able to return to bowling this year.  Wasnt sure what to expect knowing I wouldnt be able to throw the ball as hard as i used to, but would still have plenty of hand.

 

After some lenghty discusions with my driller we settled on the Jacked.  The combo of a Symetrical core\ mild layout\ little more aggresive cover seemed like it might work.

 

We got exactly what I had hoped for,  I can get deep inside and play with what little oil is there for the 1st game, and depending on if they remembered to put oil in the machine the 2nd game.  The layout gives me plenty of room for error as it isnt over agressive on shots missed wide.

 

What suprised me the most was the hitting power and carry.  Dropping to a 14lb ball was the only way id be able to continue bowling and was very concerned about carry.  Not any more.  Have 1/2 a season on the Jacked now.  Its still the 1st ball out of my bag, still at oob cover and still hits like a hammer product should.

 

As with every person who bowls in a very dry house my only dislike is that i have to put it away to early on a weekly basis.  They have screwed up 3 times this year and actually put a normal shot down.  757  786  775 when I was  able to use the jacked for the whole night.  My ONLY 700's for the year.

 

Been a Hammer fan since 86, and tho I might have strayed on occasion its great to be able to write a positive review

about a Hammer procuct.
