Vicious Strike
« on: December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM »
Ball NPS Score: Not Available
Description:

The most angular ball of the Vicious series, Vicious Strike stays clean through the fronts and attacks on the backend with killer angle. Hammer created its cut-throat design by adding a pancake to the top of their low mass bias core, thus raising the differentials and the ball’s overall hook potential. Then, they finished it off with a modified Power Whip Particle veneer. This creative combination enhances performance on medium to heavy oil, making the Vicious Strike the “go to” ball for big hook, big angle Hammerheads.

Hammer’s Vicious Strike is royal blue/purple pearl in color and is now available through pro shops and distributors worldwide in 12-16 pounds.

Awesome, is the description for the hitting power of this ball.I had this this drilled with the pin under the middle finger and the LMB to the right of the thumb. very even reaction with this drill. will hook if it is dry and you can throw it through the break if there is carrydown. I am still learning the ball as I have 4-5 games on it.I am very interested in having this one drilled with an 11:30 pin to see how much hook is there. Will post more later, until then remember "Nothing Hits Like a Hammer"!!!

The Vicious Strike was drilled up for length configuration and delivered pure skid/flip performance on long - 52, medium -48, and short -36 oil patterns. The Vicious Strike has a wicked backend in the toughest of conditions, and it just keeps on blowing through the pins, even on shots sent too far wide. Amazing for a pearlized coverstock. But the flip plate addition really shows it power if the ball speed is not kept up, then it will blow by the sweet spot and crush Brooklyn, not altogether a bad thing since it either struck or left an eight pin. Leaving oil on the Vicious Strike did not diminish its forceful flip into the pocket either; it still went through the pins with little to no deflection. It may be hard to handle in medium oil, but less finger may correct the issue. It looks awesome rolling down the lane as well! This ball truly proves that Nothing Hits Like A Hammer...NOTHING!

i am very immpressed with this ball. it has one of the biggest snaps in the backend ive ever seen out of a partical pearl. i have to get it started in the oil swing out and it just crushes the pocket. great carry i really like the carry i get with all hammer balls.the backend is like a real strong reactive ball.the cover was easy to wipe the oil off i left it in box condition. i bet with a shine it will hook even more. it another great hammer ball. it hits real hard

Drilled - Pin above middle finger, 6x4.5 w/X-hole
Coverstock - Slightly polished with 400grt compound

I drilled this ball to skid thru the fronts and rev on the backend. It does. I've drilled Ebonite particle balls w/pancake flipblocks similiar to this but this ball rolled much differently. The Ebonite balls seemed to lope much more thru the fronts, the Vicious Strike seems to roll cleanly without that loping look. Once passed the midlane it torques nicely, reading the midlane but not hooking yet, better than any particle I've thrown. The backend motion is a swooping arc saving all its energy for the pins. Ive never had a particle hit like this one, its definitely in a league of its own. One of the best particles I've thrown on medium/oily conditions.

I purchased this ball in the 15lb. variety, (normally throw 16 lb.), because with the lanes having a bigger backend, I wanted a little more speed on the ball.  I am a righty with better than average revs, about 16-17 mph.

I went with the Vicious Strike because I wanted a sharper entry angle at the pocket.  And, boy, did I get it.  I have thrown it now for 2 weeks both on wood lanes and synthetic lanes.  The house with wood tends to have less head oil, and this ball would start to burn up very early.  The back end reaction was very good;  however, it did tend to leave a solid '9' or a 4-9 split because of the driving nature of the ball.  I usually had to put it away after 1-2 games because it would go into a roll very early, leaving little energy for when it got to the pins.

On the synthetic lanes, there was more oil to play on, and I was able to open the lanes up a bit more.  Throwing 25 out to about 5, the Vicious Strike came charging back hard after it hit the dry area.  It carries extremely well.  If I did not get the ball out far enough, though, it came in high or crossed over each time.  Not much room for error using this ball.  The "hold area" is extremely small.

Overall, I give high marks to the carry of the ball.  I would like to use it in a heavier oil pattern to see what it can do.  With the touchy nature of the ball, I don't think this is an all-around ball to use.  It is condition specific, but on the right pattern, this ball could be hard to beat.

Thanks for reading
