Title: 3 New Widows
Post by: nymetsfan1 on November 26, 2015, 11:44:07 AM
Hammer just approved 3 new balls on the USBC approved ball list. BW CFI Gold, CFI Black, Red, Orange, and Legend Blue, Light Blue, Blue. I figured the CFI ones are overseas. If anyone knows anything about how I can located them that would be great. Just need the country they are going to.

The widows are an excellent line of balls no matter how old the core design is. It's proven and works, obviously. In another thread, it was stated that coverstock matters much more than core numbers, which we know via the USBC ball study. So I don't blame them for slapping new tread on an old faithful motor. As long as consumers keep buying them, Hammer will release 2 a year forever. Which is OK by me.

There was a lot of comparison to the Break and Widow weight block when it comes to motion. 900 Global just put the same weight block in a mis priced ball because they've more than made their R&D money back. Hammer should too, honestly.

You should check more of the overseas releases. They are still running the Vibe series, which are unrelated to the private stock runs from BowlersMart.

By comparison, Ebonite is still releasing balls in the NV, One, and Mission lines, with a Revolution NV and Last Mission having been recently released. It was what.. 2008/2009 when the last NV ball rolled out of the factory here (Complete NV, if I remember right)?

If the series is still good and still gets good results and purchases, why halt the cash cow? keep it going.

It is a name and a core. Slightly different covers or colors and keep it moving.

How many times do companies use the same core, and put a different ball name and logo and run more covers over an older core? A lot, why, because it is easy and it works.

Nothing is changing, just selling the same product usually with a different core every so often. People feel good having an excuse to buy new stuff plain and simple.

I got a few overseas The Ones in and a Pivot Move. Just cause they were priced right and I liked the looks. They roll great, and I look forward to getting more here and there. Also really like the Columbia Resurgence Fire. Right look, right price.

If they were smart they would have just left the original in there line for years like storm is doing with the hyroad and iq tour. They would have saved alot of money and the original widow would still be selling without a doubt. Hyroad is proof I hope storm never discontinues it I continue to drill hyroads here and there I must have had 12 of them by now.

It's not costing Hammer anything more to change the color and name on a widow and use whatever coverstock is laying around.

Likely will end with higher sales numbers then just using the same plain black widow. Look at the BW Limited popularity.

Like the Zone line they can keep riding that gravy train awhile longer.

Exactly lol. Easy sales of the same ball.  You need a promotion from Storm for that gem of an idea….. Or at least a free ball.

One of the new ones coming has me more excited about a Hammer release since I've been in a long time. Probably mostly based on looks alone, but the type of ball is exactly what I typically fall in love with. Can't wait!

Oh, and it's not the one kid lost is referring to. :)

Until the next release….

Is it the classic 3 release system… solid followed by the pearl version then the hybrid. Or maybe mix it up with a hybrid first

I went to an EBI seminar/demo today
wow!, is one word that sums up today
new equipment is amazing
the technology for the cores and coverstock  they were talking about is amazing
its no wonder EBI is catching up/surpassing the other brands
the agreement with KR is also huge - 8 year deal

It's amazing what happens when a company has a dry patch, where everyone else sledges and berates them, and goes back to the lab with pen and paper to figure themselves out of their problem, and comes out better.

I was off Ebonite, around the time of the Pursuit, stayed with EBI (went Hammer), and now I'm back with Ebonite and Hammer.

I also listened to the 4 different brands explanation and how they market to each a different buyer
I was off of track equipment sometime after the 505t, 715t. I loved those 2 pieces
then the Legion and the Paradox came out, both are unreal
the legion is like a longer/stronger GB2.
The Paradox was a ball that I wouldn't ever buy because it looked so strong on paper, but I am very glad I have 1 now.
I picked up the new Track Heat and am deciding how to punch it out

I have a few of each brand, tried some others, love some, like some and don't like some.
overall, EBI has alot to offer
