Black Widow Sting or Venom?
« on: April 24, 2010, 01:37:11 PM »
Hey all, I'm debating between getting a black widow sting or venom, possibly nasty too. Just need a decent-hooking ball for heavier oil play. I currently have storm's rapid fire pearl and virtual energy, and columbia's white dot. I once had the black widow pearl, it was a kick-ass ball, but it was stolen.

I was honestly aiming to grab storm's reign of fire, but the 2 balls I already have from storm are consistently leaving me ghost pins and solid 7s and 10s, which is drastically dragging down my average, so I'm hoping Hammer will change that. Any input would be appreciated

Depends on the reaction you are looking for.. The nasty is a great ball for skid flip.. length and recovery...

If your looking for it to handle oil go with the sting , you wont regret it. I love mine, it absorbs some serious oil so make sure your clean it regularly and have it rejuvenate (baked) every 150~ games or so and you will be fine.

Those are exactly the things I'm hearing about those balls! LoL Only problem is my other 2 balls have those slide/flip reactions and leaves alot of solid/ghost pins which is why I kinda factored out nasty. I love the sting's look, the dullness makes it look ideal for heavy oil, but pro shop guy told me it's not a good ball, and I got to test shot my buddy's venom but his had a weight hole so I'm not sure of its real potential except it hooked a couple boards more than my rapid fire pearl (my strongest hooking ball yet). I appreciate the input guys.

Ive had both balls. Depends on what you want the ball to do. Personally I did not like the Venom. It did not hook for me enough. With a little surface on my Sting, the ball will recover from the out of bounds area. I love the ball.

If you want a smooth reaction go with the sting.  If you want a little more violent reaction go with the jacked.  Have them both along with the nasty and the nastys hardly ever get used.   The jackeds are the only balls I've been throwing as of late

If you mean smooth/violent reactions as in arc/angular hook, I think I'll be leaning for the smoother arc on this one to see how good it works. Looks like the sting will be my new ball as of everyone's liking and suggestions. Thanks everyone.
