Hammer Vibes - Are They All The Same?

Looking on Bowlingball.com, they all have the same hook rating at 122.5.  It makes sense since they all have the same core and I assume the same coverstock.

However, they are different prices based on color and some colors are rated better than others with Cherry Vibe getting a perfect score.  I also saw PA use the Cherry Vibe a lot recently.

So Hammer fans, what is the difference or is there one?

I like the price and color of the Cherry Vibe.

The Blue is the smoothest throughout the lane.  The Emerald is the longest with the biggest backend.  The Cherry falls somewhere inbetween.  Without doing some research I don't remember what covers they have but they ARE all different.  I think the Emerald has the Doom cover if I remember right.

Thanks.  I guess Bowlingball.com is lazy in their hook ratings then.  I thought the Vibes were like the Storm Tropicals.

They do have similar overall hook just in different parts of the lane... maybe that's what they were trying to get at, who knows.  I would say if anything the Blue would be the least overall if any.  I own a Cherry and love it for a medium to medium-light THS.  I have been tempted to grab an Emerald for a little extra length but I have a Break Pearl with a pretty high pin that is actually a bit longer down the lane than the Cherry Vibe.

Don't forget about the original purple one, which I believe was the weakest of the 4.

A "perfect" score on an arbitrary test???  Please let me know what products you claim to design in the future so I can avoid them like the plague.

Gee, maybe look at an informative site like BBR or at the source like Hammer Bowling instead of a site that sells stuff and you'll see that there has been three different cover stocks used.  Emerald and Purple (max flip reactive) should be the same, but the Blue (CT reactive) and Cherry (max length reactive) are obviously different.

You proved you can't bowl so go ahead and choose by color instead of cover and reaction.

He obviously means the review scores on bowlingball.com. As for the perfect scale, it's really arbitrary. I'm really supposed to believe the TFP handles more oil than a gamebreaker/Anger?

The Blue Vibe should be the strongest of all of the Vibes, because it's earlier and smoother than the Cherry/Emerald. Not sure why the prices are different, maybe because the Blue Vibe is discontinued while the Cherry and Emerald are still in production, with the Cherry being in production longer.

Same cores with 3 different coverstocks to give a different read and reaction on the lanes. One could have a league arsenal with all three and dulling up the Blue.

Blue Vibe: Earlier read with a smooth but strong arcing backend.
Cherry: Length with a strong snappier backend
Emerald: Most length and all about Skid/Flip reaction

they are not the same at all.. the blue vibe can handle more oil than the other 3.. it can handles a lot more oil than them if the surface is changed..

No doubt!  The Blue Vibe can be used on a ton of patterns with coverstock adjustments.  The Cut Throat coverstock is awesome.

Totally agree!  That would be a solid arsenal at a very good price.
