Grape Vibe
« on: October 23, 2011, 01:20:47 PM »
So I purchased a Grape Vibe and although the volume of oil at the pro shop's house was higher than its intended usage, I saw some good results when I compared it to the Blue and Cherry. I went pin over ring and CG a little off the palm with OOB finish. It seems to slot nicely between the two, and I'll elaborate a more after the first league night, but looking forward to it as my first option since the Blue is too strong at the normal house.

Well, here's the first report. I love the reaction on the conditions for which it was intended. However, since the house treated the approached and made them slick as all hell I truly could throw a shot in my normal form. A little while ago, I experimented for sole and heel combos. Hopefully, tomorrow night during league, I'll have truer results. It hits like a Vibe, is very predictable, and I'm pleased for now.

Still wasn't comfortable on the approaches and my release sucked; the ball was great.

Okay, it's been a few weeks because I had to miss with other appointments and league rotation since I've been the low man much of the year (slow start).

Last night was pretty decent once I got my release working again. The first game was nothing to report due to operator error, but the second game both bowler and ball came alive. The Grape Vibe hits very well like its predecessors. With my lane conditions I didn't feel the need to alter the cover and it reacts as advertised. I love the length through the heads and the recovery. It's predictable and smoother. I couldn't use it for the third game with three other lefties on the lanes. I switched to my Cherry and finished the set. These two pearls are excellent compliments medium-dry to dry lanes. I seems to match up very well with the numbers in the Vibe line versus higher RG and Diff balls. This ball replaces my Doom which I really wish I could roll, but the physics don't suit me.

I haven't been able to bowl this year due to work but I had started the season with the grape vibe and after throwing the blue vibe for about 2 years I can say that the grape vibe is nothing short of fantastic.

After bowling for maybe 6 weeks I started at 225+ and ended at 217 (really nice start as I was between 195 to 200 last year and improved my game over the summer, plus it doesnt hurt to have a ball that helps you with the lane conditions your on) after having trouble with the third game transition and not realizing that I would slow down my ball speed... not a good idea at the house I bowled at as the backends are clean and balls tend to backend very hard throughout the night especially if everyone plays around the same spot all night.

love my grape vibe and when I get back into bowling plan to use my grind for when the grape goes sideways too much on the backend causing odd leaves.

I too see it as better match to lanes then the blue vibe as I can use it longer on more conditions.

Thanks hammer for the excellent equipment!
