I gave in....
« on: January 14, 2008, 02:15:36 PM »
And ordered a BW Bite today.  I had to sell some golf clubs, but hey thats okay.  So, looking for layout suggestions.  I've had ZERO luck with anything that puts the mb near the thumb.

I'm thinking 4 1/2 pin to pap above my ring, with the mb at 45* or less.

Thoughts?

Andrew, I would put the pin in your favorite location and place the MB on your VAL.

I have had my best reactions on asymmetrical bowling balls with the MB on my VAL and the pin above the bridge 5.5" from my pap.  This usually requires a balance hole which I like to put 5" straight over from grip center on my mid-line.

When you layout a ball to put the MB on your val, do you automatically
just put the mb straight across what your pap is. or example, my pap is 5-5/8 over and 7/8 up. Does that mean i put the mb 5-5/8 away from my thumb?

Actually Andrew, I've always thought it was because you placed the pin to close to a strong 3 3/8" position from your PAP that you have problems with strong assymetrics.

Well, the pin placement for me doesn't seem to matter.  My best assy cored ball for me have been:
Vapor Zone--4" pin to pap, mb at 45* on val
Time Zone--5 1/2" pin to pap, mb beyond val, something like 25*
Oracle Vision--5 1/2" pin to pap, mb on val

I've had others pin positions as well:
2 1/2
5 1/2
4 1/2
4 1/2
But, the common aspect of all those so-so balls is the mb is within 2" of the thumb.
