I need new gear....but what?
« on: January 26, 2008, 06:08:41 PM »
Okay, so I'm getting back into bowling after being away for some years. I currently have a poorly laid out 14# AMF Black Hawk Menace and a 14# Zone spare ball. I'm thinking about trying out some Hammer gear. I'd like to know what y'all recommend. Black Widow? Bite? 2 different strike balls? I bowl at a few different centers and have run into a pretty wide range of oil patterns - from dry as a bone to slick as butter. I'm only throwing about a 186 avg at the moment. (medium rev - med speed) But I feel pretty confident that once I get back in the groove, I'll be back to around a 200 or so bowler. Looking for advice from you experts! Thanks!

I'm still leaning toward Hammer. Mostly because of the sheer volume of them sold, I feel like I might have an easier time finding advice on fine tuning them once I start rolling them. (that and I used to throw a red hammer back in the early 90's and I always liked it

But I really only want to invest in 2 strike balls for now. Which two??? I'd like something I can get really aggressive with, but still be versatile. And I think I should probably have something else in the bag for when it's called for.

BWP and BWB?  BWS and Vibe? Anger and Doom?

Advice?

bite and doom or toxic would be your best two picks, beatn is imo too driller unfriendly a crap shoot for some bowlers.

Go with the Toxic.  Shot my 3rd 300 with that ball shortly after I got it.  But my house is medium oil, so I can't comment on the heavy oil.  Good Luck with your decision.
