Big Block Deisel Question
« on: June 24, 2004, 08:09:40 AM »
I have a question for you Big Block owners.  I was at the pro shop yesterday (which is run by a Hammer staff member) and talking to him about getting something that will give me a lot of length and have a strong finish; something that won't overreact in the heads.  He tells me to check out the Big Block.  He drilled one up for himself and the other guy at the shop drilled one up and they both have the pins under their ring fingers and said they get tremendous length out of the ball even with these lower pins.  The ball had a high shine to it and looked very dark, almost like a purple/black pearl finish to it.
I told him that I would check some reviews and get back to him.  I looked on the Hammer page and also on Bowlingballreviews and the Big Block pictured on these sites look nothing like the ball I saw at the pro shop.  I called him up and asked him if there were 2 versions of the ball and he said no.
To those of you that have this ball:
- does it look like the picture on the Hammer page (red/blue and dull looking)
- does it get a lot of length? The description on the Hammer page says that it is the most hooking resin ball in the Hammer line.  Any info would be appreciated.  Thanks....JS

I have seen several of these and they have all been shiny and not dull. The pictures of balls on webpages very rarely ever match what the ball actually looks like.

If they only made a ball that would carry that d*mn 10 pin..

JS,
My Big Block does not look like the picture on the website, it actually looks like an Ultimate Inferno if you cover the labels on each ball you couldnt tell which is which.  I have pin below my bridge, which is about 4 1/2" pin for me, and cg at 10* toward my axis.  I get s mild mid-lane read if I am playing the lanes straight, with strong continuation on the back.  The same ball I can play in with and have enough muscle left to carry the corner.  This is quickly becoming my benchmark ball, I would suggest picking on up as it is the real thing!  Good Luck

I drilled mine rev leverage label, and drilled deep into the thumb hole and mine has tremendous length and enough on the backend to slap out the 10.  Big Block Diesel reads the mid's extremely well.  Definately one of the best Hammer balls out there right now.

Try out the Big Block Diesel or The Deal due out in July.

Both balls roll very true and and driller friendly.

JS,
I also have my Big Block drilled with 1 1/2 to 2 in pin.  I stacked it under my Rf so it is drilled 3 1/2 x 3 1/2.  No Weight hole.  This ball for me gets incredible length and very controlable backends.  I drilled this ball up and bowled in a tournament the next mourning.  Oil was 38 feet Little heavier on the outsides.  I was the only one playing outside and getting a consistant reaction out there.  I was +128 for 6 games and finished 5th.  This ball is so smooth and I can't wait to use it for league patterns.  Hope this helps, Derek
