Is the Hazzard a particle pearl?
« on: July 22, 2008, 08:46:38 AM »
Just got my Hazzard delivered today and it looks like it has mica particle in it. It looks kind of sparkley when held up to the light. I didn't hear anything about this ball having particle in it. I haven't decided how to drill it yet but am leaning towards the #1 skid/flip drilling. My No Mercy is the #4 controlled arc drilling. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has thrown this ball and how it reacted on the lane.

Jeff Ussery has stated that it's Violent Flip Reactive. Didn't mention particle content so based on just that, I would say it's just sparkly. A couple of my Hammers have a little sparkle to them. The Doom, Blue Vibe, and it seems like one other on had it. Just for looks I think.

Got any pictures of that thing? Let's see it!

Many manufacturers add partícle in low loads to their coverstocks, but do not mention it. Storm's Paradigm was such a case, Elite's Scorpion is another, and I would not wonder if there were some "secret" ingredients that enhance control. Esp. on pearl balls it is hard to tell if there is more than just mica or PET sparkles added.

perhaps it's the "Traction Pearl" additive Hammer introduced with the Toxic cover.

It would be nice if Jeff cleared this up about particle or not. I've got the ball drilled up with the #2 layout. Pin above fingers, hart (hopefully) in first 2 flare rings. It comes pretty polished so I should get some length with a decent backend. I haven't thrown it yet but will post as soon as I do.
