Anger
« on: December 01, 2007, 03:02:51 PM »
We ordered some of the Raw Hammers for the shop.  I decided right off the bat I was going to punch an Anger when they arrived.  I'm thinking of a stacked layout as I've sold my heavy oil ball recently.

I've watched the buddies video and it sure looks nice.  But, I'm 99.9% positive our house shot isn't as dry as that one on the outside.  Even the crankers play right of 15 at the arrows.

With only 4 reviews in the review section, all positive I'm looking for more testimonials.

Glad to hear you like the anger. Mine is fantastic but I rarely see enough oil for it even with a moderately weak layout and 4000 grit surface.

I did use it polished for a while and it was great, very strong arc and a lot of recovery on House Shots.I would have kept it shiny but I needed it to be the strong ball that was rolly for tougher patterns that I do come across, It is by far the most predictable ball I have.

Another update.

I used it on a pair that was oiled this morning.  It had a youth league, bday parties and open play since 8 am.  The Anger was strong, predictable and controllable with a very good move in the midlane and was able to hold its roll through the carrydown puddle and carry very well.

After our Saturday night league, I was able to use it on a much fresher pattern.  I was 4 boards left of the carrydown pair.  It was very good on our house shot.  I could move it to 14 or so and hook it alittle.  I found the best look on the side of the ball playing a 10-8 swing.

I'm heading to a tourney tomorrow and if I use it, I'll post a review.

The Anger paid for itself today.  I normally won't take a ball with me to a tournament unless I've thrown it and know what it likes and dislikes.  I decided to take it with me a tourney today, a scratch doubles in a house that I've never bowled in before.(move two pairs right after every game)

The tournament director thought it was the house shot.  I'm not sure if it was this houses THS or not.  I was able to hit the pocket from a few angles with my inferno, but the reaction was weak and anything inside 10 down the lane reacted very soft.  I thought you had a small window to carry consistently, but a slightly larger window to get to the pocket.  I pulled the Anger out about halfway thru practice and was able to get lined up quickly.

I started looking 13 with a breakpoint at 10 and no further right.  My hand position was on the side of the ball.  I stayed in this general area for the first 4 games, making minor target or feet moves for carry.
236-268-223-258
The 5th game of qualifying the lanes transitioned into a HUGE wet/dry.  I moved deeper and moved my target deeper.
237
The last game, lanes 15/16 my look started to go away.  I struggled to find a consistent BP and had my first open of the day in the 6th frame of game 6.  I mustarded a 213.

Shooting 1435 for 6 games, thats a 239.16 avg.  I made 138 in high game pots and brackets, which I only invested $46 in.

Our doubles team qualified first, but we were unable to maintain and slide all the way to 6th in the finals.  Dan and I bowled well, but our carry really went south.  I didn't even shoot a 200 in the 4 game match play finals, 184-196-197-188 all with 4/5 single pins a game.

Overall, I walked out with $150 more than my entry costs, which more than paid for my new Anger.  The last ball I ever drilled up that impressed me this much was the original inferno.  I switched back and forth between the Anger and OI in the finals but I just could kick the 10 out.

Good shooting Andrew!  How does the Anger compare to the OI?

Side by Side, I'd say the Anger is 4/5 boards stronger.  I'll know more this week.

Yes, Brian.  I might start migrating to Hammer.  I'm looking for a good deal on a Doom.  Otherwise I drill one out at the shop, since I only pay cost for equipment.

I just got rid of  mint Doom to a buddy at my center awhile back. You would have loved that one too. Bad timing I guess........

If you love that OI, you'd really fall in love with a Black Widow by the way.

Another little update.

I used the Anger on our fresh house shot and it was good.  Carry was pretty good, but not spectacular.  I shot 720 the first 3 and was forced to change balls in the 4th game.

The high school bowlers at this center use the PBA Experience league on Sat mornings.  I bowl with a few of them after league occasionally.  Today the Scorpion was out.  I bowled on this pattern last week, using my OI and shot 589.  I didn't have anything with me that would get to the pocket between 8-10.  Well, the Anger changed all that.

I bowled two quick games with 3 other people on the pair.  I was looking 7 on the right lane and 8 on the left lane.  I carried pretty good, leaving only a couple of 10s and shot 470+ for two games.

I continue to be impressed and now I've ordered a Doom to fill in my new love of the Raw Hammer line.

I'm glad to read the Anger is working good for you.  Wait until you try out the Doom.  The Doom is a fantastic ball!  The Doom is what got me throwing Hammer.

I think Ebonite has done one hell of a job with the Hammer brand!
