I got the I wanna New ball blues
« on: January 30, 2008, 10:44:06 AM »
The thing is I want to try the bite so bad but I know I won't need it. My no mercy may not have the exact same reaction it did when I got it but it is still pretty strong once the lanes break down. My blk widow sees the most action and after that comes the bwp. The bwp isn't seeing too much action because by the time i'm done with the solid it's too much as well on the back. I would rather not move too far left because I start to see a lot of splits. So I was wondering if I got the blue vibe instead would that maybe give me a ball to go to when I need something to give me some length and cruise into the pocket and not be so snappy?

Yes as a matter of fact it will.  I just got a younger bowler into one of these.  His primary ball has been the Widow Pearl, which as you may already know is to erratic.  He got a heck of a deal on it, I chose the ball and the drill and he had to take a lesson from me once it was done and he didn't pay anything.. good deal I'd say.   Anyway to make a long story short, I watched him struggle the other night to a 180 and a 175 and finally couldn't take it anymore. I got him to move out to 10, switch up to the vibe and Voila! 239 with a middle frame open.  The Vibe overall is similar in boards covered, maybe a few less, it certainly rolls a little quicker, but is smoother off the break.  It is not to say that it is weak on the break though.  I think it really would be a better benchmark ball than anything and thats even with a length drilling.  That said I think it also compliments as a lower end piece.  It can hook less with less surface, or a lot more with more surface but for what you want it for, in box condition with a length drill, you should be able to use it as a nice later shot ball, BUT it won't be a true entry level type reaction.  Its not weak, but it is a great piece, just drill it for what you really want it to do.  You want length drill it for it, you want it to roll, the drill it for that, I think you could make it work for anything but the TRUE extremes.  For really heavy oil, with it truely dulled with a roll drill it might actually get it done!

The Blue Vibe sounds like a perfect fit.  This ball in box condition will get very good length and has a nice strong arc reaction on the back end!

The BV will definitely fit the bill for what you are looking for. I am actually finding the BV to be a one ball arsenal for all league conditions I come across. Geat piece for Hammer!

I got the bv yesterday and got it drilled today. I went with a length drill. The pin is over the bridge not quit centered and the cg is shifted slightly the the right. I bowl league tonight just a regular 2nd shift house shout and i'm excited to use it. The guys at the pro shop had a lot of good things to say about. Even went as far as to say it was just as good as the Black Ice. Guys around here swear by their B I's.
