Widow Solid Pin
« on: March 22, 2008, 12:29:48 PM »
Well i have decided to purchase a Black Widow solid. Now i need to figure how to drill it. I have my Doom with pin above ring and love the reaction, long and great back end snap. would this be a good pin placement for the solid? i throw around 15 mph with medium revs

Yes!  I would keep your pin plcaements pretty close on most of your equipment.  The different cover and cores will seperate the reactions.

I do feel you will need to pay xtra attention to the MB placement because that's going to have an influence on the balls reaction shape.

I agree with chitown, keeping the pin in a location that has proven affective is always a good idea. The BW and the Doom are different enough to provide different reactions even with the pin in the same location.

As far as the Mass Bias goes, putting it just on the right side of your thumb (if you're right handed) will provide a more angular breakpoint shape. On the left side of your thumb will be more rolly and arcy.

I have a solid and Doom that are drilled with the same pin to pap distance and height. And its probably one of the best 1-2 punch combos I have ever had on a THS.

If you keep the MB around the 60-70degree mark or 5" or so from pap, it should have an angular reaction. Closer to your pap will make it more early rolling and arcing in nature.
