Title: Black Widow coverstock change
Post by: TheMan14 on December 21, 2006, 11:03:34 AM
I have been having problems in heavier amount of oil this year.  Currently I have a Black WIdow drilled pin over ring and a Rampage drilled the same.  My Black WIdow is too strong in medium, but not quite strong enough in heavier oil.  I was wondering if I should redrill it after christmas when I get some money, or adjust the cover to 800 (this is the highest grit my proshop has).  I have fairly high revs (guessing 300-350, but just a guess), or would that be too much unless I cut down on my revs some.

Did u mean to say that 800 is the lowest grit ur proshop has?

Either way, if thats either the highest or lowest then u need to find another pro shop. Id take it down to 500 abralon to get an earlier roll.

whats the cover at right now? Surface is more important than drilling. Remember, surface dictates around 80% of the ball reaction and the drilling only fine tunes it.

right now the coverstock is oob, or at least close, it hase about 30-40 games on it.  What about Track's Clean n Smooth cleaner? It says it would bring any ball to 1500, would that possibly work.

The bw was not meant for heavy oil if you like hammer drill up a Hawg Zilla mass bias at 45 degrees and the ball will give you what your looking for even with the oob coverstock.

Before one ever considers plugging and re-drilling a ball needs to try cover changes first.

Go to your local Walmart and buy some Green scotchbrite.  This is 600 grit.

I feel it's a good idea for all bolwers to buy a set of abralon pads.  This makes changing the cover a lot easier.  Get the 4000,2000,1000,500 pads.  They really make it easy to fine tune a balls reaction.
