Black Widow, Is it the strongest pearl ?
« on: December 03, 2007, 02:10:21 AM »
From what I have noticed lately, not including the pearl particles, Is this one
of the strongest finishing pearls around? Has anyone thrown anything of recent vintage as strong, Hammer or any other companies ? This like to hear others opinion.

Strongest only in the backend ? Although my BWP has alot more midlane, my Cherry Vibe finishes just as strong if not stronger. And the Toxic is in the same catagory as well.

I've seen a T-road pearl and Fury that looked pretty strong too.

My Cherry Vibe is 10X's the ball my first BWP was. Backend, finish, everything. The Vibe is a very underated ball in my opinion.

My BWP is very strong, it out hooks my cherry and doom by a good 5 or 6 boards. It for me isn't all back end, its very round for me with strong continuation on the back end.

I do have to admit my Doom and Cherry have more back end but don't cover nearly as many boards and don't hook when there is a longer pattern or heavier side of mediums where my BWP still works well.

I thought the Twisted was supposed to be a weaker covered ball? I have been looking for a strong pearl also, maybe the twisted will do the trick.

I have my original black widow and BWP drilled identical and I get more flip out of my solid then the pearl. The solid hooks about 3 ft sooner but get about more boards on the backend.

Also i have drilled about 5 of these widow pearls in my area and all of them are monsters on lighter - medium patterns. Overall Great ball but not the strongest pearl on the market my Lanemasters Sure Strike is about 7 boards more in the backend.

I am using my BWP about 95% of the time with the OOB finish. Both of my leagues seem to be lighter with oil than last season; I think last season it would have sketed down the lane for at least the first game. Still, I have used it on heavy (and sport) shots with very good results by softening up the release and speed. The BWP really saves its energy for the back end.

For me, my Toxic is a better finishing ball. More hook ? no, but I'm more about results than looks. All I want is to see no pins standing, it could be a pink rock with green flames, I just want it to get the job done.

I just got the Lane 1 Supernova XP and it is way stronger the the BWP it was out hooking my G-force solid and thats lane 1's hook monster.  So if you are looking for an aggressive pearl look into this one.

Well, I'm guessing The Truth wants to know the answer to thirty's earlier question...

IMHO, no, not any more. That distinction belongs to the 900 Global Break Pearl, followed closely by the Storm Gravity Shift. Both start a little earlier, but they retain an uber strong move to the pocket and cover more boards overall.

The BWP is a very strong backend ball.  However, Hammer has some others that are pretty dam strong on the backend.  The TOXIC has a very quick response to friction.  Both the Cherry and Blue Vibe also have strong backend moves with the Cherry being more flippy than the Blue.  The DOOM also has a strong backend.

Are you looking for a strong backend pearl?  Does it have to be the strongest on the market or are you just curious?
