Heya Hammerheads... the LEGEND is back stronger than ever!
(https://www.ballreviews.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi678.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fvv150%2FPlowboy300%2FBWLegend_Page_1-Web_zpsb9835e2d.jpg&hash=9923a93e7371ebdb7f452ac68079d440e1f89e5c) (https://www.ballreviews.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi678.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fvv150%2FPlowboy300%2FBWLegend_Page_2-Web_zps0f9f4911.jpg&hash=1d0ef1151bdb91263b32ccd8fbf5a90adce55806)
Black Widow Legend
The name Black Widow has become one of bowling's most legendary names and is always one of the most popular pieces on the market. We proved that when introducing the Black Widow Assassin at the end of this last season. The new Black Widow Legend is back in black and red with that long and strong ball motion that you expect from the most lethal name in bowling.
The Black Widow Legend uses NBT Hybrid, the same aggressive and proven cover used on the First Blood and is the first Hybrid cover used on a Black Widow ball. The aggressive polished cover, along with the most successful core in bowling history, the legendary Gas Mask core, provides an incredible move on the backend and through the pins.
The Guts and Warranty
The new Black Widow Legend and Absolut Flip both contain Hammer's patent pending materials and processes in order to maintain the promise of having the TOUGHEST balls in bowling. We hear all the time the balls with the Flex Resin core and Caron-Fiber outer cores hit harder than anything else out there.
In addition to hitting harder, we know these balls are tougher and more durable, that's why we're putting the industry best 3 year warranty on both of these balls.
Release Date: August 5th

this ball is a hooking beast. Videos are already up on this and the Absolut Flip.

I hope it's not a remake, because they are never anything close to the original

"The Black Widow Legend uses NBT Hybrid, the same aggressive and proven cover used on the First Blood and is the first Hybrid cover used on a Black Widow ball."
I think that screams not a remake as many were originally hoping.

Wonder if they'll have those 2 drill patterns like before, which surprisingly was the bomb for me. This was the first ball I could use the a high pin... Lovin' Hammer !!!!!!!!!
-
So which would be stronger? BWA which is a solid or BWL which is a polished hybrid... The video makes the BWL looks beastly, but I am honestly confused and don't want to get something that will not improve my arsenal. If someone can explain it would be greatly appreciated.

Bill O'Neil was using it during tonights telecast of the Bear Open on the CBS Sports Network.

...but I am honestly confused and don't want to get something that will improve my arsenal.
Sorry to hijack this thread....I just found this too funny. I'll say you are confused, lol.
If don't want to get something to improve your arsenal, a house ball would work, lol. Again sorry, just couldn't resist.
On topic: I really loved the original Black Widow, but it was more of a medium lane ball for me. I have always wanted to find a close replacement, this might be it.
-
I have not received mine yet, but from what I have heard from other staffers that have thrown this ball... it is stronger overall with the Hybrid cover, so I think it will be pretty close to the reaction of the original Widow overall wise...
Looking forward to throwing this ball after the Assassin is so sweet rolling down the lane!

LOL, was typing to fast... I meant to say will not...
But seriously I'm looking for some clarification.

Considering it has the same cover, I'm assuming it replaces the First Blood or is roughly the same? I love how it looks, just don't want to get something that overlaps.

So this is a US version of the Taboo Limited?

That too was the First Blood Cover with Gas Mask / Taboo core.

O'Neil threw it to win on the Badger against the two hander. He even gave special props to the ball on the telecast. He was also the only guy who could create a decent look without lofting the ball 15 feet down the lane. The ball clearly creates great hit without resorting to a lot of side roll.

FWIW, the Hammer Infection has very similar stats...I got a similar reaction between the BW and Infection. I did polish a BW a bit to match the Infection.

The Hammer Infection? From 5 - 6 years ago? Completely different specs altogether between the BWL and the Infection.. I would expect the BWL to be much stronger than the Infection.

Again, BW not BWL.

The Infection was actually released only 3 years ago and the core specs are similar. The biggest difference is the coverstock. Gotta love the gas mask core though!
