Arson High Flare vs Spike black/gold
« on: October 20, 2015, 09:20:21 AM »
I just drilled up a spike black/gold (haven't used much yet; a few practice games) and I won a silent auction on a High Flare.  Question: is there a place for both in the bag?  Enough separation between them to justify having both drilled at the same time?

Other balls I have currently drilled:
Black Widow Legend
Storm IQ Tour Solid
Radical Times Up Pearl
Current bag:
DV8 Turmoil 2 Pearl
Radical Squatch hybrid
Motiv Forza GT
Hammer Black Widow Gold
DV8 Vandal
DV8 Creed Rebellion

For me the Arson High Flare is about 4-6 more boards overall than the Spike Black/Gold... the Black/Gold Spike is a weaker ball for the drier lane patterns.
I do not match up well with the Spike core with my game.

The AHF will be more angular down the lane than your IQ Tour, but might be very close to what you see overall on the lane. It's your call, but the AHF is a surprisingly good rolling ball.

Hope this helps...

Helpful as usual. Thanks. I may just hold on for a while. I'm generally satisfied with what I have drilled for the conditions I typically see. I will ultimately look to replace the IQ, but there is a bunch of life left in it right now. Got it used. Not sure if I will ultimately replace with AHF or something else. Part of me really wants to see what the burgundy hammer can do. I think one of the low flares will ultimately replace my Times Up. That cover is really starting to get beat up.
Current bag:

Radical Squatch hybrid
