Black Widow Urethane vs Black Hammer Urethane
« on: February 09, 2018, 09:42:18 PM »
I currently have the Black Hammer Urethane and have been looking at the Black Widow Urethane. How much of a difference would I see between these balls? I haven't been able to find any videos comparing the two. Thanks.

5 (edit: figured I guessed low, probably more) boards at least.  Black Hammer is more for short oil whereas Black Widow is a super strong asym you can use on THS.  From what I understand that Black Widow is the strongest urethane ball on the market.

The BW Urethane for me is 8 boards stronger overall and tips more down the lane than my Black Hammer drilled the same extra way... even with bringing the sureface up to 2000 it is still stronger for me to use on most medium lane patterns.

If you are looking for a strong urethane ball... this is IT!!

Figure I would post up for others who search in the future. I've rolled the Black Hammer a lot on burned THS heads and short sport. Being rev dominate, I love being able to square up and blast urethane for games on end! The widow gave me a look for fresh and generally oilier conditions.

I must underline what has been stated by the guys above, the ball is wicked strong. It doesn't need the surface it comes at in my opinion. Mine sits at an adjusted 2800 grit scanned and it's plenty strong. For me the ball needs head oil if it doesn't have it I'll struggle to carry the corners. Maybe I just need to get use to playing a very tight inside line for game 3 and beyond but Black Hammer is a great ball down with the same overall shape.

Easily 5 boards stronger than the Black Hammer. Both great options when looking to control shape down lane.
Just an unbiased bowling enthusiast trying too enjoy the game with each set.

My friend has both and got the BW urethane for when he needed just a bit more than his regular black urethane when the lanes are oily and fresh.  Well the BW is way stronger.  It is amazing that they are the same cover and how much a strong core and increased flare can do for a ball.

I would agree it is at least 8 boards stronger, and that is with changing the surface to a higher grit.
