Hammer Arsenal?
« on: October 15, 2007, 12:35:08 AM »
Hello everyone. I am really intrigued by the latest Hammer products that have come out and I am lookign to build a tournement arsenal using just their balls.
I need this arsenal to cover everything from heavy flood to desert dry. Any Suggestions? Stats are in profile but I am a 29 year old with a 185 average in league. I am rev dominated and struggle with getting the ball down the lane sometimes with my slow speed. I don't know actual revs/pap etc. Sorry. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

You'll probably want the followling for a six ball arsenal:

Black Widow
Black Widow Pearl
Raw Hammer Anger
Raw Hammer Toxic
Blue Vibe
Cherry Vibe

You could add a No Mercy Beat'n over the Widow or slip a Doom somewhere between the Blue Vibe and Toxic.

Thanks Ken. I thought the anger is stronger than the black widow? I think you are close to what I was looking at. I was thinking that the cherry vibe would still be too strong for light oil? I have heard it is stronger than advertised? That is a great looking arsenal.

I think it depends on what you want the balls to do...midlane or strong backend.

More midlane:
No Mercy
Anger
Black Widow Pearl
Doom
Blue Vibe

More snap on the backend:

NM Beat'N
Black Widow
Toxic
Cherry Vibe

Also to remember, most of the above can be drilled to do either, depending on your style, but it's a place for you to start.

You're welcome, ring.

Listen to azguy. He's very knowledgeable.

The Anger is strong, but it gives you a different look on the lanes from the hook shape of the Black Widow. I had good success with the BW in Reno last May.

The Cherry Vibe is surprisingly strong, but you can drill it weaker like with high 5+ inch pin to PAP stacked with the CG or something else to fit your game.

In addition, if you're curious about Ebonite, look for and SR300. It also worked great for me in Reno.

Check my videos in my profile or my myspace page if interested.

Thanks Ken, sad to say I can't seem to help myself as much as I try to help others ! I guess it's true, those who can't do something help/teach others !

ringing 10, If you had the money and time, you could ball one like chitown did, same ball, many of them and very different cover grits. I'm not a huge fan of that, but it worked for him in the Dooms and now the Angers, if I remember right, but I'd rather use a ball how it was designed and get a different one for a different condition.

I have had great luck with the Toxic but not many have so it's also a ball/cover/core match up thing sometimes.

Most important, IMO, know your PAP ! or at the least have your driller know it. With a lot of balls not knowing a PAP can take a great ball and turn it into a very costly spare ball, not what most folks can afford or want.

Thanks guys. That was some great help. I really don't like anything too snappy on the back end as in tournements, the line is usually tighter and I want balls in the arsenal that I can control. My driller knows my pap, so I will have to find out some more info on that.
thanks again
p.s. On a side note, does anyone know where I could possibly get a package deal on some of these?

However, talk with your driller because he may work you a deal for a large purchase.

Anger
Doom
Vibe

If you want a 4th ball then try and find a Pain.  The Pain is a great ball to go between the Anger and Doom.  These are very good pieces for tournament play.
