Shining A No Mercy??!!! Need help ASAP!!!
« on: October 16, 2007, 04:48:19 AM »
Hey guys!  I took my No Mercy to 1000 Abralon and shined it with Ebonite factory finish polish.  The ball looks like a marble but is a little skid/snap now (I changed to cover to compliment my Beat'n).  I was wondering if sanding down to 500-600 and then polishing it would tame down the skid/snap while still getting decent length?  I hope you guys can help as I am bowling league tonight and will redo the surface this afternoon if you think this will work, thanks!!

Try going the other way and sanding up to 4000, no polish.  That'll give length and smooth the backend a little.  The polish is too much...

Good Luck,

You could try either way. Taking it to 2000 or 4000 and NO polish. Or you could try 600(green scotchbrite)and add polish. That will also smooth the break down a bit but you will get a earlier read also.

Take it to 2000 NO POLISH ! I've found, for me, 2000 is the best. Length and a good amount of snap BUT not off the lanes. If you want the most length then go to 4000 but NO polish.

I had a guy pm me the idea of leaving it at 1000 abralon and hitting it with matte finish, as this should even out the break point and no skid snap.  If any of you guys have tried this let me know as I am going to decide by 4:30PM so I can have the ball done by tonight.  Thanks for everything guys, and I will post what I decide on at 4:30PM!!!

I put the ball at 1000 abralon with matte finish ans it came out great.  I will post tonight as to how it went on my sport league.  If this does not match up well, I will sand up to 4000 and give that a go!! Thanks to everyone for their advice!!!

Well I never got past warm-ups with the No Mercy, but the reaction was smooth with a nice even arc, but I decided to go to the Beat'n which was giving me more backend, and ended up shooting 800 even!!  I shot 287, 288, and then got some carrydown midway through game three and switched to the Blue Vibe to pull out 225 game three.  Thanks for the great ideas on the surface of the No Mercy, and I will post next week when I get a chance to shoot it!!!
