Black Widow on carry down?

Leaning towards adding the Black Widow to my arsenal.
Have you encountered any problems with the ball on carry down?   That is my only concern with the ball.. that it won't turn after a game.

I have mine drilled with the all purpose drill and keep OOB and haven't any trouble with mine in carry down.  It just rolls right through.
Good Luck

For me it handles carrydown just fine.  I've been making carrydown adjustments by moving up on the lane to slow the ball down a bit, or moving back on the lane for little more speed.  I usually move in 6" increments when I do make these adjustments.

Nice, yeah.. I'm not sure what layout I would want either.  Planning on talking with the driller, because I like the all-purpose but I'm not a high rev guy.  Medium at best.

stone,

While I think that the Black Widow is certainly capable of being used on carrydown conditions, I wouldn't recommend it.

In most cases, on carrydown, you want to bring the breakpoint closer to you in order to get the ball rolling heavily as it enters the pocket.

The Black Widow, in general, likes to push down the lane and offer a lot of movement on the backend. That is fine when you have clean backends, but when the oil is pushed down, that late backend move will cause your carry to suffer big time as the ball will still be trying to hook when it enters the pocket.

The only way that I'd try using my Widows on carrydown would be if I still had enough head oil to square up a bit and could then change my hand position to get the ball rolling earlier. Then I'd say you have a viable option.

So, in conclusion, I guess I'm saying that YES, it is possible to use the Black Widow on carrydown, but I wouldn't try to do so unless you're comfortable changing hand positions and manipulating the timing of your breakpoint. If you expect to be able to keep standing left and throwing right, I think you'll be disappointed with the results you see. Just my .02.

Good luck and good bowling to you.

In our area with dry dry sides and mids and sloppy backs...it is THE ball.

It's strong core with pin up drillings over ring area seems to supply a lot of the necessary length thru the fronts and the churn(flare) needed in the back to keep on truckin right thru the slop!

It is a high powered new fangled version of the X factor Deuce which still supplies nice results in our area with similar drills.

It is fine on carrydown IF IF IF you bring the coverstock to 2000 grit or lower. Otherwise it may not perform as you desire for that condition.

Mine is at OOB 4000, and I haven't changed the surface so far. It does NOT like carrydown much. I'm sure the surface is the reason, but I just change balls when I get to that point. Awesome ball all around though.

mine doesn't like carry down much either... thing flattens out and loses energy.. hits like a wet fart.. with clean backend the ball works wonders after that I'll wear a spot in the oil and then start throwing my doom (hits the break point and that all the friction it needs to get back)

I agree, bring it down to 2000 abralon with a strong drilling and it'll cut through carry down w/no problem. OOB at 4000, forget it....it's squirt city because of it's late read (no midlane).
