Title: Blue Vibe... WOW
Post by: justink on February 13, 2008, 12:35:27 AM
If you bowl in a house that lays down a THS of medium, get one.

This ball is ridiculous on this pattern. I don't have anything in my bag that is as long and strong as this ball.

My Black Widow Pearl has allot more lope in the midlane and is a little less touchy on the backend than the Blue Vibe. The hit between the two is totally different; the Vibe seems to just shred the rack and the Widow sends pins everywhere, lots of messengers.

The only downside is that I was looking for a week ball and I don't think Hammer makes one. Well other than my No Mercy, which now is about the weakest ball in my bag, it is old faithful and serves it's purpose well as the first ball out.

The Blue Vibe is an awesome ball.  It also takes to cover changes well.  When dulled to a low grit the blue vibe can handle heavier oil really well!

I'm not sure how your NO MERCY can be considered weak?  Do you have a weak layout on it?

I think he means his No Mercy has suffered a case of ball death.

I think you are right about my No Mercy. I have thought about having it baked, but I actually really like it's reaction right now. It works very well on medium conditions and has no over-reaction to carry down or extreme dry backends. For the most part it is my reference ball, I can get it out and know exactly what it is going to do on just about any pattern.

As for the Vibe, I think I am going to polish it with Ebonite's Extender and see how that effects it's reaction. I bought it for the main house I bowl in and in this house weak hits carry best, so if I can tame it down a tad it would even be better for this house.

If I might, I would suggest going to a higher grit finish via abralon pads rather than polish. I say this because you won't clog the pores of the ball this way and the surface will stay there much longer than polish.  For me maybe its in my head, its less "squirty" that way aswell.

I have decided to just leave it at it's factory polished state. Love the length and backend is just killer. Probably just not going to be the ball for my regular house. They just don't put down the oil.

I bowled state this weekend and using the Blue Vibe and Black Widow Pearl I averaged 219 with a high game of 299 using the Black Widow. I found that on this pattern the Widow and Vibe really complimented each other. It was just a soup in the middle and the shot was a perfect down and in, get a few more ten pins at this angle, but loved it anyway.
