Is the old Black Hammer a Urethane?
« on: December 15, 2009, 01:17:26 PM »
I'm talking about one from 15yrs ago.  Anyone have any tech info on it?
Any current ball around that would be close to this but with just a bit more oomph and hitting power?

Yes the old black, blue, and burgundy hammers were urethane. As far as something like them I don't know about that. Although I know several people that still use the blue hammer and still put up honor scores.

Thanks for the reply.  I'm in a bowling rut and cannot get out of it.  The best look I've had lately was using my old Black Hammer and just throwing it up the second arrow and hope it hits in the pocket.  It's been pretty good, but its old and kinda hits like a marshmellow now.  Was looking for something close to thta look but hits harder and has a bit more movement.

Try the Storm Natural.  It compares the closest to the Blue Hammer for me, and you will be able to play that same line with it and get good results.

Another vote for the Natural from here. Visionary's current Urethane Ogre might be similar, but a tad weaker than the Natural. And there's Lane #1's Liberator, which is supposed to be pretty strong for a urethane cover ball (just hearsay, never saw one in action around here).

Since Thomas mentioned Visionary, another thought might be the Green/Blue Centaur.

Not a urethane, but acts like one though it hits like a reactive.  Read up a little on it....might be a better solution.
