Burgundy vs Blue HAMMERS
« on: February 07, 2009, 09:56:50 PM »
For those who MIGHT remember, which of these two actually hooked more?

I remember the Burgundy came out after the Blue and was SUPPOSED to be more aggressive, but Ive never been around a Burgundy myself.

For me the Blue was so aggressive and so early, I couldn't use it. I didn't have a spinner at the time and tried to sand it smoother and polish it by hand. Ha! Impossible!!

Same here, with the Blue Hammer handling heavier/longer oil better.

six pack,

The Burgandy was the last "traditional" urethane Hammer after the Purple. The Blue was the most famous. It was preceded by the Black, Blue and Red Pearls, the Red, and the Pink in roughly that order although they are grouped pretty close thogether, so the order isn't exact.

The ABC clearance dates are not correct on 123bowl.com.

K ,it's been so long I can't really remember so I have to look it up.I remember buying my Blue and the Burgundy was all ready out as a few freinds had them and that's pre resin, but that dosen't mean anything.

I still wish I kept OLD Blue!

No prob, six. I just grew up with those balls. They all were pretty awesome.

I still have a Blue Hammer and a Red Pearl. Ol' Blue helped me win a state tourney. I got some fried lanes for singles and doubles and then short oil for team. I ripped it up! Noone with resin stood a chance.

I have a Blue Hammer a Black Hammer a red Pearl Hammer and a Burgundy Hammer

For me, the Blue Hammer was more versatile, and would generally crush the pocket, regardless of who used it. It was especially great in the hands of guys who could really rev the ball.

However, from my experiences, especially on heavy oil, the Burgundy Hammer hooked the most. The ball was inherently early, and gave you a good continuous read, all the way down the lane. My leadoff teammate in my Tuesday league still uses one today. He is a lefty, and he makes this ball look like new money! It still hits hard, and is the only ball that he brings to league to shoot with!

The Burgundy should be more aggressive than the blue. But it all depends on what blue the one made in Baltimore or the one made in Utah(2 different formulas). But never the less believe the was more aggressive.

The Burgundy Hammer was more brittle than the blue.
Never saw a blue crack , saw a lot of Burgundy Hammers with problems.
The Burgundy sure hooked.
