Hammer Rayzr 1 step up from plastic?
« on: March 15, 2009, 11:35:29 AM »
I just pulled the trigger on a rayzr tonight. I have been trying to find a smooth reaction when playing up the lane for some time. I want to be able to play up 5 to 10 staight up. On our fresh house shot on leauge night, my white dot does not want to make it back with my speed. I have tried many balls with long pin to pap distances high above the fingers and adjusted surfaces up and down with no luck. They all seem to jump too much on the backend when polished and read to early with more surface. I just drilled a hyroad last week with a 2" pin to pap and cg in palm. It to is way to aggressive for what I am looking.

Would a rayzr give me the look between plastic and long pin layouts of medium oilers. I am looking for feedback from people that actually have this ball and what drilling would fit this ball nicely for a smooth reaction up the boards?

You'll get many opinions, so here is mine:  the ball at OOB, which is 4000 w/polish wasn't for me.  It was extreme skid/snap.  I tried a few surfaces, and to me the Razyr at 1000 with polish is just the perfect ball.  I bought one NIB for the ball rack just in case I can't one find right away.  Just my opinion....

I just drilled a RAZYR Friday...ball is stronger than urethane.
3-piece core, strong reactive.

RAZYR LAYOUT, OOB surface

I'm lefty, I used the ball on Medium Oil, rolled it up 5-7 board (down and in)...ball held pocket, very well.

I also had a Hammer Acid drilled up, same day...I had to play the Acid 14 to 8 on the same lanes.

ACID LAYOUT, OOB surface

My speed was about 16 mph, revs about 325-350, that day.

Duke, I was thinking about a similar layout for my rayzr but mirrored for right hand.  Do you get a smooth backend with it?

No snap at all...Very controlled back end.
Nice continuation...Like urethane w/good carry.
Didn't leave any weak corners with the ball.
