Been looking everywhere for a ball that will go long on dry heads and mids and still finish good. Never used a Hammer before but looking at the reviews the CV seems to be the ball that i'm looking for, normally play down the boards 8-12 (stroker) so guys tell me this is the ball i want or is there anything that will match this or is better on the market.

I've got a tropical storm with a Rico drill which goes really nicely on short/dry patterns, pin's around 5" from PAP. Really nice shape to it, although with my high track it bumps the fingers a little just before it hits the pins sometimes, but I don't worry about that.

From what I've heard the CV is a decent choice, although I've also heard that it's stronger than advertised... Hammer seem to have a knack for doing this... So if I were you I'd err on the weaker side with the drilling, 5.5" pin maybe, I think Rico would work well, or a high pin, 1.5" or more about the fingerholes.

Other balls to consider, if you're not wedded to the hammer idea, are the legends straight flush, track desert heat (if you can find one) ebonite tornado, or a good old urethane if you can dig one up, I've got a black U-dot which works a treat!

The ball definitely goes long on the dry.  It's the "finish" that can be a bit troublesome.

The CV I have is a 5.5in pin to pap.  I have yet to find a shot that this ball isn't playable.  In league play, 2nd shift, or me grooving my own lines, this ball always seem to push way down the lane.

In addition, despite some people saying its too strong off the dry, this ball has read the lanes and moved smoothly, strongly, and predictably off the dry.

Now for the "finish"...Getting down the lane is definitely this balls strong point.  I just find that this ball doesn't carry well for me at random times (probably due to carrydown).  When I get it right, this ball is money, but every now and then...it humbles me with some solid corner pin.
