I would like to Congratulate Doug Kent on his victory at the USBC Masters!!!  He and the Black Widow cruised to victory against very steep competition!  Thank You for showing the world (who didn't already know) that the Black Widow is the bomb-diggity!!!

Sorry, CHris. Doug Kent won that tournament by giving out lessons in adjusting, not the BW, as nice a ball as it may be.

Cruised? Looked like a hard won victory, not settled til the 10th frame in each case.

congrats DOUG! .... great bowling, and in regards to it being the bowler not the ball.... i believe its a combination, the black widow is the best ball on the market and doug kent just proved why... he not only matched up well with the pattern but the equipment definitely had to have been a help...

congrats again to doug

Yes a lot of this has to do with the bowler.  However the condition has to be right for the ball.

Doug Kent is a great bowler and his style is awesome.

I said that!  Yes it's both the ball and the bowler.  To say it's not the ball bit only the bowler is wrong!  I guss if it's only the bowler and not the ball, Doug Kent could have used a plastic ball.

Come on bud listen to yourself.  Some balls react better than others on tough patterns.  If you don't agree with that then you have not bowled on may difficult patterns.

On a side note the cover and layouts also make a difference along with the bowlers talent.

Yes, but while Doug chose to use the Black Widow, there are more than a few balls from several manufacturers which would have reacted similarly. No one manufacturer has a true edge anymore.

Dougs a good bowler.
I personally didn't like the Widow. It was too inconsistant for me.

Congrats to Doug

Here's my 2 cents.  This is why idiotic righty league bowlers can't hit crap out of their comfort zone.  They shim wreck by using the wrong line and breaking the lanes down wrong.  Kent matched up great and as charlest said made great adjustments moving into the lane as they broke down.

Jurek had a perfect look at the pocket with the morich ball too, but the last 4 of the last 6 frames he missed his mark by at lest 4 boards at the break.  Jurek was 4 boards or so inside of kent and had he stayed there with his softer hand, I believe he could have won that match.  Just shows how much nerves play into this game.  his ball would have recovered from out there too, had he put the hand in it

but congrats to Kent, he made the adjustment in the final to do what he needed to win

Man, i got a few of my fellow bowling team members together and we watched the masters at the alley with our coach. Kent really made some great adjustments and really rolled a great ball all game. I picked him going in because he was throwing hammer and he rolls a great ball. Our coach raved about him and was rooting for him and Jurek as he has met them both.
