Blue Vibe...AMAZING!
« on: March 04, 2007, 01:26:01 PM »
I just got my Blue Vibe (first Hammer) back from my pro shop on Friday. Pic of it before I got it redrilled for fingertips is in my profile (moved the span down a little bit so that I could keep the same drill but have tips in it). Threw a couple of shots with it on a modified Cheetah pattern (normal Cheetah with hand-oiled boards outside of 5). I didn't like it at first, I couldn't get it to read well on this pattern.

Bowled at our sport shot travel league today and I didn't think to use this ball until the 3rd frame of the first game. I practiced the whole time with my SR300 and thought I had a decent line. I couldn't carry those first 3 shots, and it just felt weak, so I decided to try out the Vibe. I placed my shoetip at 30 and threw over 15 with the breakpoint at 5. Man, this ball came alive. I was able to shoot 662 with it on a sport shot, my highest so far on these conditions. This ball gave me more area than most of the bowlers around, and it made a sweet arc into the pocket. I carried almost everything.

Can't wait to throw this ball again, it's really awesome so far. It fits in really nicely between my Immortal Pearl and Tropical Storm.

WOW 15 to 5 and back at 17mph with a blue Vibe on a sport shot. You must have had some serious revs on the ball. Good bowling

Well, it could have been a short oil sport shot.  There's nothing that says a sport shot has to be long!

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

I have said this in other posts.  The VIBES are REAL GOOD!  Both the Purple and Blue compliment each other VERY good!

That's amazing you can hook it that much on a sport pattern. The Cheetah pattern you can open it up depending on the lane topography. The Blue VIbe is pure money. It's been a money maker for me. The ball is so versatile.

IMO there is no way that a blue Vibe was doing what you said. Tommy Jones was playing that line on Cheetah with an Angular One a few months ago and I just can't believe you have that many more revs than TJ to make a Vibe do the same thing as a AO.

It's not about the amount of revs, but how you apply the revs. I rev it upwards of 460 and average 435, but if it's a bad release I can make any ball spin out of control.

It could be burning up or sliding out early and not checking up. On the tour, you don't see too many hi rev guys except Sean Rash and Wes Mallott on the Cheetah pattern. The softer players seen to do better. I can't hit a 35' sprt shot, so I know what you mean. Brian Graham did recommend a Blue Vibe to me when I aksed him about attacking that shot. Who knows?

First, why do some of you guys feel that a 15 to 5 shot can't be done on a sport shot?  This all depends on where the OOB is.  Plus it depends on the amount of oil and length of the pattern.

Now I did get a chance to see the Blue Vibe in action last night on a typical house pattern.  This ball responds well to dry boards.  It moves pretty dam good when it hit's the friction.  I was impressed by it.  I liked the ball roll.

Got to throw it again today for league. Took it out for the first game, shot 245 with it, but put it away after the first game (the house doesn't usually have too much oil on the lanes, switched to my Tropical Storm).

I really like the reaction, just because I haven't had a ball that reacted like this before. I'm used to throwing skid/flip balls, and it was a nice change to have a bit more control with this smooth arc.

As for me shooting that line on a sport shot, the shot didn't have much oil and I'd say it was pretty easy for a sport, but it was definitely still a sport shot. Maybe you misunderstood my post. I wasn't shooting the 15-5 on the Cheetah. I said I tried shooting with the ball on the Cheetah, but I couldn't control it. I used it on the following Sunday at a travel league on a different, easier sport shot.
