Cut-throat coverstock life
« on: February 23, 2005, 11:48:39 PM »
I’ve heard mixed opinions on the life of hammer’s cut-throat coverstock. I was thinking about getting a Real Deal for heavy oil conditions but I don’t want a disposable particle like a lot of them seem to be. I’ve stuck with reactives up to now since with good care and a resurface now and then they will last a long time. What experiences have you had with cut-throat coverstock?

Thanks,

Well, I can tell you about the Real Deal in particular.....I ALWAYS throw this ball!  I have yet to see any deterioration in the reaction.  The best part about this ball is that I have thrown it playing 5th arrow, and the same ball has been used to play 3,4,&5 boards.  SUPER versatile, on heavy oil and medium oil.  Do not be afraid of your investment, it will pay dividends and pay itself off relatively soon.  This ball is The Real Deal!

I agree with HammerHombre, the Real Deal IS the Real Deal. I've only had it for a few weeks now, but I've been using it and nothing else. It has worked magic on heavy oil to standard house shot mediums as well. I can swing the lane from all angles or I can take some hand out of it and play hard and straight. I have noticed no loss of pop as of yet, and the ball just continues to blast the deck. I try a ton of gear every year, and this ball has impressed me more than anything that I've tried in recent memory. It's versatile, controllable and it packs a devastating punch. If you can get one, do it. Heck if you don't like it let me know, I'll take it off your hands. I may buy 2 or 3 of these bad dogs before all is said and done. It's really THAT good.

The cut-throat coverstock is awesome!!!!  It's one of the most durable coverstocks that I've used.  It's not dying like the coverstock on a Storm Triple Xtreme (huge disappointment!!!).  I currently have the Real Deal and it has done wonders to my game.  I can't wait to get the Big Deal.

I sold a Saw Blade to a friend of mine. He bowls 2 times a week, usually 3-6 games a set. I really don't know the number of games on his, but I'd guess it's in the mid 100's and his ball looks 90-95% new. a couple dings, but that's from the machines and his reacts like new, saw him 3 days ago and his reaction was as good then as it was on day one.

That's all I can say, I have Ebonite & Storm.

For heavier oil go with the Hamg.  My friend drilled it yesterday, and all I can say is early roll, big arc, punishing hit.

ive had my Saw Blade, which has the cut throat cover, for about 6 months now. The reaction had tammed itself from when i first bought it, but back them it was uncontrollable. Now its puuuuuutfect. Very consistant, not overreacting.
