Razyr - First day using it in league..
« on: September 13, 2008, 04:10:33 AM »
Hey everyone, just got back from my Saturday 10AM youth league, throwing my Razyr for the first time in this league.

Well, what is there to say.. On the fresh, this ball gets a pretty good push (better than my other equipment), and just unleashes off the dry. I shot terrible my first game, trying to get used to the ball, and ended up with a 168. Then I realized my speed NEEDS to stay high (revs = 250, normal speed = 15mph). I then started holding the ball higher, getting more momentum in my backswing, and voila. This ball was then amazing. No more diving through the nose! I was standing at 25, throwing over between 2-3rd arrow.

Overall, at OOB surface, this ball is a beast! It's no spare ball, it's no beginner ball, but i'd say it's more of an advanced bowler's ball, who needs a different look than anything else they have. The Razyr has amazing carry for a pancake ball. I left more 9 pins than 10 pins (not even one 10 pin, actually).

Hope this mini-review helped some! I'll be glad to answer any questions, since there's not much Razyr owners posting on the forums just yet.

Thanks!

ON EDIT: after the 168, I proceeded to throw a 249 and 236 after the adjust.

fasttracker, have you ever thrown the hammer claw (the last pancake ball with reactive cover from hammer?) if so could you compare the two,

or has anyone thrown both. the claw was my go to ball on crappy lanes, it literally fell apart on me, would consider a replacement if this were close

triggerman, I have not thrown the Hammer Claw before. I'm not even sure when it was released lol. It's probably as old as me.

Sorry!

If it helps at all, i'd like to mention one thing I did not.. Everyone saying this ball is for dry/burnt lanes is either insane, or i'm blind! LOL.. Maybe it's due to how I throw, but I can never picture myself tossing this ball on dry lanes.

EDIT: Also, a picture!

Im so glad people are brainwashed to think that TRACK sucks. And its even funnier when im carrying with my TRACK ball and they're going flat ten with their BRUNSWICK ball.

Haha, I took a picture of my Razyr next to my friend Joe's NVD, just to make the picture a little sweeter looking. I guess someone noticed.

like i said the claw was of similar construction, IE reactive pancake block

see here http://www.bowlingballreviews.com/ball.asp?ballid=161

I actually got the claw from the only review there lol, anyway a great ball for a cranker playing outside, couldnt swing the ball but sure could play up ten with it.  first night out 279 lol

maybe I'll punch a razyr up for giggles to see what it does and how it compares

NJ Stroker thats my NVD in his pic.  The ball is awesome.  I just threw it at a demo day on the US Open Pattern to try and get lined up for the balls i would be throwing and the ball ate that pattern up for lunch.  The NVD is so strong and it only has a simple layout on it.

Here is the pic : http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p291/yankeefan51582/Bowling%20Balls/Ebonite_NVD.jpg

Definately another good ball by Big E.
