Title: Diesel Particle
Post by: StevieDiesel on July 09, 2003, 05:04:37 PM
I got a Hammer Diesel Particle (black & Red)for my birthday.  I already had an old blue hammer that I got like 10 years ago.  This new hammer after having it drilled has been awesome.  It has done well on almost every lane condition.  I use my blue hammer for spares.  I can throw it out far or I can throw it on more of a line.  It just doesn`t matter.  The ball hits the pins like a truck.  I can`t wait to get the Viscious Attack next. I really do recommend this ball.

I agree the diesel particle is a great ball.  But be aware you will need to maintain the surface of the ball or you will lose your reaction.  I would recommend reading some of the forums on this site regarding cleaning particle balls.  I have followed them and they do wonders for particle equipment.

I think my Diesel Particle Solid is a great ball, and I am obsessive about keeping all of my bowling balls clean.  This ball, however, is oddly non-absorbent to oil.  The oil rings are always quite prominent on it when it comes back in the ball return, and have been from the beginning.  They wipe off easily with a microfiber towel.  I use Hook-It to clean the ball, and it is non-absorbent to Hook-It as well.  Hook-It vanishes quickly (absorbing in in my opinion) on most balls, but on the DPS you eventually have to wipe it off or you'll be going at it forever.  I'm hoping that this non-absorbency will lead to a long lifespan for the ball, although I have an undrilled spare sitting in the basement just in case.

I also have the now discontinued Diesel Particle Pearl (also with an undrilled extra in the basement) and I use it even more than the solid, since I face mostly a lighter oiled, wood lane condition.  The DPP does not demonstrate the same non-absorbency of the DPS.
