Thinking about getting a Blue Vibe and get it dulled
« on: April 08, 2008, 03:10:30 PM »
Eventhough I don't need it. I would really like to get a Blue Vibe and have it dulled just to see what it's like. What do you guys think? Would it be worth trying to get a used one and dull it?

Hard to go wrong with a Blue Vibe, regardless of what you do to it.

Whether you need it or not...you'll love it. No matter what the surface is the Blue Vibe is a fantastic ball.

I agree with all the above, this ball is just awesome polished or dulled. Just put your favorite layout on the ball, buy yourself a set of abralon pads and have a field day on all conditions.

The only conditions that may give this ball trouble would be bone dry or xtreme heavy oil.  However, most bowling balls will struggle on the xtreme's.

I second every comment posted. Great ball for many conditions depending on surface prep..

AZguy is right.  Get one now if you ever want to have one.  A little birdie told me that the Toxic, Doom, Blue Vibe, No Mercy, and No Mercy Beat'n were getting cut off this season.  He's an employee of a distributor, not a DSM for ebonite or anything.  Still, those cats are usually in the know.

I would be very surprised if the NO MERCY, and BEATN' were discontinued!  I really don't think there going to discontinue an entire line of balls like the no mercy's.

Yeah I agree...that would be a surprise. I could see the No Mercy, but not the beat'n as well. With the Whup'n (supposedly) coming soon they're obviously not discontinuing the line.

I hear you.  I really do.  It didn't make sense to me.  I was just relaying what I'd been told.  This guy is on the inside, so sometimes he knows stuff I don't.

I know the pearl No Mercy has been waiting in Kentucky since before the Bite, so why would they make it a stand alone ball?  What I'm saying isn't gospel truth by any means, it's just the latest buzz from a distributor rep.

They have been sitting on the pearl No Mercy?  That sucks but I can understand why.  The original No Mercy is one of my all time favorite bowling balls and a pearl version of it would be awesome!

Yes Jeremy, in fact that is what my contract says at the top: "Super Staff Contract."  I'm pretty sure I'm the only one.  They saved it for me, a middle of the road regional rat with no hand who throws from the wrong side of the lane and sprays it like a sprinkler .  Everybody was scrapping it out over who got to sign me, but I took the deal from Hammer because of the "super" status!

But really, I haven't heard any of this stuff from Hopkinsville.  They keep that stuff really tightly sealed.  That's why I say don't take it as gospel.  What I've heard comes from my Distributor rep.  He may be in the know and may be trying to get me to load up on No Mercy line balls (you know how that goes).  Honestly, though, as much as I love No Mercy balls, I don't see them selling a ton in my dry, wood lane center.

Oh, and to speak to the topic at hand, it's worth giving a try.  I don't usually go any duller than about 1000 grit on my Blue.  It is a very strong cover, though.  It will undoubtedly cross some boards.  The only problem I could possibly see might be carrying corners.

It's a great ball, though.  You won't regret giving it a shot.  Strong cover and mild core is a nice combo to have.
