I think my Diesel Particle Solid is a great ball, and I am obsessive about keeping all of my bowling balls clean. This ball, however, is oddly non-absorbent to oil. The oil rings are always quite prominent on it when it comes back in the ball return, and have been from the beginning. They wipe off easily with a microfiber towel. I use Hook-It to clean the ball, and it is non-absorbent to Hook-It as well. Hook-It vanishes quickly (absorbing in in my opinion) on most balls, but on the DPS you eventually have to wipe it off or you'll be going at it forever. I'm hoping that this non-absorbency will lead to a long lifespan for the ball, although I have an undrilled spare sitting in the basement just in case.
I also have the now discontinued Diesel Particle Pearl (also with an undrilled extra in the basement) and I use it even more than the solid, since I face mostly a lighter oiled, wood lane condition. The DPP does not demonstrate the same non-absorbency of the DPS.
