Burgundy Pure Hammer questions
« on: December 25, 2006, 03:15:20 PM »
I know this piece is yesterday's short term news.

Picked up this piece.

Heard it is sort of like a Urethane.  Original hammer core(like in the sling blade?).

All the reviews I've read state it's pretty early?  Smooth backend.

I believe most reviews were talking about the Black which I believe is urethane.

This one I hear is a very mild reactive....same idea?

Lots of early friction in my center...ideas on this ones setup?

As far as I know, the black has a urethane/raective blend in the coverstock. It is VERY durable, which makes me think it is closer to urethane than a real solid reactive. The burgundy one is supposed to have a "real" reactive coverstock, that mocks a urethane reaction - early read of the lane, not jumpy, continous curve. Sadly, I never saw both next to each other in action.
Core in both is the original Hammer core which was used in most (early) Blades. Since it has a low RG and medium differential, I'd rather drill it for length with a high pin - but that's me, and my experience with the black one which I really love (and which is a surprisingly strong ball, great on light oil).

I dont have either PH's but Ive watched a guy throwing the Burgundy in our league.
Seems to be a fair bit stronger than its advertised to be.When the lanes are dryish, this guy always goes to a Power Groove.(Greenish color).Much smoother than the Burganduy for him...looks about 5-6 boards difference to me.

i have the burgandy.. its drill pin above bridge.. cg in the palm..my first thought it this ball was wow... alot stronger that i thought it would have been.  on fresh backends its pretty flippy for me. its a really good sportshot ball though, i was able to play outside of 5 w/ it with some speed and scored pretty well. this ball is CONTINUOUS. its very predictable though.. but in oil it doesnt do much, but still hits hard though when in the pocket.
