They threw Arson Low Flare and Vow at WSOB so they are national release otherwise they are now allowed to throw them.

Yes Vow not wow. Columbia already had one of those lol. My understanding from a Hammer guy was they have 4 releases. Arson Hybrid, Wrench, Arson Low flare, and First Blood.

Scot Norton used to Hammer "First Blood"... i'll refrain from giving away who won, but yea.... he signed with EBI literally the night before the show.

First Blood has the "HMB" marking on the mb. It actually looks good. Has a different sort of swirl pattern that EBI has not used so I will guess it is going to have solid shelf appeal. Ussery is quite the cunning guy.

The Arson Low Flare looks appealing as well.

gotta have a low flare. Need it when the lanes are too fried for my arson pearl and I want to stay in the zone a little longer
Title: Re: first blood?

Arson Low Flare is not exactly "weak". It just stores/releases energy at a different zone. I'd like to think its difficult to categorize balls in this price-range as weak.

The Arson Pearl (arguably) will go longer up front BUT will likely respond to friction faster than the Low Flare, giving the impression that the Arson Pearl "hooks more" while the Low Flare theoretically will grab the fronts sooner (its cover texture is duller). Its really up to how each bowler sees their own ball motion (what you like to see and how you adjust to that with your respective rev-rate/launch plane/axis tilt/ability to move, etc).

They just use energy differently. Case in point, customers during league sessions come into the shop and often used to say "Why does my Onyx Vibe hook more then my Taboo"... Onyx, hits the wet/dry block doesn't burn up as much as the Taboo, so of course Onyx appears to "hook" more, classic scenario those in the biz I'm sure most all could relate to :)

The Arson LF might be comparable to Storm's IQ Tour (from what I seen in the Arson LF ball motion).

Just a lower flaring ball, smoother, slower friction response time... this ball seems to blend the lane out for those that want to go around the pattern or for those that want to go through the pattern.

I don't remember saying the low flare was weak.  Let me read my post again...Nope didn't say it was weak.

Polish_Hammer,

My humble apologies sir, I read your reply as you saying you wanted the Low Flare for dry after the Arson Pearl was too much. But ok I think I see what you're saying.

From what I observed at the WSOB the Low Flare was good for Cheetah. I'm guessing because the guys wanted a piece to slow down at the break, which from what you're saying would work great.

Everybodys seen the balls on facebook....why not just put the info out on them.....jeeesh

The bowling industry is no doubt in a dilemma due to lack of money the industry doesn't generate lol (not funny but)  :(

Why even contain info on such pieces? Seems impossible to contain it... Its kind of like telling someone you got them a gift but won't tell 'em what it is, can we say torture! lol

PBA and ball companies should get together and (pay) bloggers to purposely leak info (similar to what Nike does with their exclusive sneakers and select blog-sites). Get the bowling populous buzzing, whether or not it creates good or bad press, but at least bowling can take its stab at things how other industries are embracing social media. We need to embrace hype and let the early release of info help our industry.

A site like this BR could be the exclusive industry insider (no disrespect to other social bowling sites) to all things bowling, the bowling world getting its digital fill on other bowling things besides just what pba.com has to offer.

Just some random thinking...

Well your thought process is spot on man.  I could name a few brands that clearly have marketing people without marketing skills...like seriously lets just just kill off our brand here lol.  I wanna know what s*** some of these guys are smoking let alone thinking lol.

In the same respect..theres a few that do it really well...u would think they would take notes lol...

The blog thing would be cool tho!---back on topic ;)

Bill Dozer,

The First Blood has a quasi Virtual Gravity visual appeal to it. Some of the balls out of the batch I seen had a big red circular patch surrounded by the the blue-ish/turquoise color scheme (and some of the balls, the blue looked darker than others but we all know colors vary)... and the orange was layered under the blue, again in a circular pattern. Impressive ball by looks. Mrs. Norton surely liked it!  :)

The color pattern looked VERY good for EBI (no disrespect there but i'm just sayin'). Definitely Ussery doing a good job of naming + visual appeal for these new breed of EBI/Hammer pieces (Arson Low Flare/First Blood, minus the Arson Hybrid which looks like the old blue RAYZR (in my opinion).

Some of the color schemes coming from EBI just seem bland... recycled colors in the same pattern seems so blah, NOT that others companies don't recyle, BUT i'm just sayin' again, lol... (i.e. Magic Action/503T, granted different brand but still, its like can we please put some effort into the creative aspect. Manufactures can't keep warranting a $180-200+ dollars price-tag for a product that looks like a model that came out last release.

In our business most of the general bowling populous judges the book by the cover.

:)

Not too sure about that.

There is a new Taboo Spare, and a Taboo Green coming out, or is already out overseas.

It's very common for stateside companies to keep lines "alive" overseas for years after they let the line die on this side of the pond. Take what you see on overseas sites with a grain of salt, so to speak...

Once again, can't be too sure on that, especially if a pro shop that posts here regularly posted that they had the Red Taboo in stock; an overseas release. Same with the cube, which I have, and an Ebonite Undefeated Fire; both overseas releases. Black Widow Danger and the Cube were both sold by the Hammer Booth at Nationals. I would take it with a grain of salt if I didn't see, touch, and have the balls punched up.

Legend-Star has been pretty spot on with their announcements; not saying that any other site isn't, but they've been pretty accurate.
