Found an older Hammer?
« on: July 18, 2009, 11:29:18 AM »
Trying to save a bit of $$$ but still get back into bowling, I went to our local "Play it Again" store and found a Hammer ball. It's green swirl colored, has no markings other than the Hammer logo and the number F82555. The ball looks pretty good, is my weight, 15 pounds, and was selling for $30.00. The holes were actually a close fit. Is there any way to find out more about this particular ball?

Thanks,
Rick

It may be Jack Hammer or Nasty Nail Pearl.
I hate ten pins but love the game of bowling with just the right ball to take them out.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try to get a picture, but I lost my cell phone last night so I may not be able to.

Thanks,
Rick

If there are no other logos on it other than the Hammer logo and serial # it's probably been resurfaced to a point where it's probably tiny.

My CLAW has a logo on it that clearly says CLAW inside a skewed hammer insignia.

The serial number starting with an F makes me wonder if it is an old FABALL from the days when Fabinich still owned them?  I don't remember my hammers having serial numbers like that.

OK. I got my cell phone back and took these 2 pictures of the ball. The only markings not shown in the pictures is the serial number, F82555. Also, in the store this ball looked green to me. In the pics it looks very blue. I am a bit color blind, to green and brown, but I guess the ball must be a sort of blue/green. Anyway, pictures here...

Nothing more than a light oil/spare ball these days.

Yeah, that's definitely the original Blue Pearl Hammer and in great shape at that. That's a very nice find for $30, especially if you don't have to plug and redrill.

Anybody else notice that this ball has a 2-3" pin? Definitely a great find for $30.

OK, the ball is mine. I went back this morning and picked it up. The finger holes are a bit of a stretch so I am going to have to have it plugged and drilled. Any recommendations for drilling this ball?

Thanks,
Rick
