Taboo spare ball for dry lanes
« on: August 25, 2013, 08:42:00 PM »
Can anyone that has used the Taboo spare ball for a strike ball on dry lanes tell me how successful you were and just how much hook and hit the ball had ?? How much does the ball skid on your typical house shot ??

I sanded mine at one point to try. It didn't really do anything in the oil. But I can tell you it does ok on fried lanes. Carries better than any other plastic I've thrown by a long ways.

I have a big problem with balls being too aggressive when used on our house shot because of very dry backends and slow ball speed. I have tried negative drillings and very low dif balls and they still hook too much so my thought was maybe the Taboo spare might be a viable choice to try..

The issue with the Taboo spare for me is if it touched any oil it would just slide. So I need to basically set it right in the dry. I am a higher tilt player and always had trouble in dry lanes because everything just jumped off the spot. I am now using a Lane 1 SOS drilled with 5.75 pin to pap and pin down(opposite of what I always  thought) and its been money. I learned that being higher tilt, which I didn't know, made the ball save all its energy on drier lanes and then be uncontrollable. So the very low diff with a very weak pin to pap and high Val angle solved my issue.  I am going to try a very short weak pin to pap this year as a test to see if that burns tilt faster. Dry broken down lanes have always been an issue for me.

I was on old wood lanes and little oil last year
shot 803 with my taboo spare.
scuffed it with 4000 slightly by hand
miss out with it and it was on the nose, miss in and it would skate
carry was very good.
quit that league, that much friction is no good for my game.....
