Black Widow Venom
« on: October 20, 2008, 09:23:38 AM »
Hey people just wanting to know some facts about this ball as i am thinking of buying this as a second ball, i currently bowl with a BVP Wizard but i need a very good ball that hits hard just in case the lanes that i bowl on are a bit more oiled than usual is this a good ball i have been offered $300 aussie for it is that a good price that is also including postage and also how it is drilled does that affect the bowl as in drill it this way and u get more turn drill it that way and u don't get a lot of spin sorry im new and i want to buy a good ball so when i finally out use the wizard i can go on to a top class ball that does the trick and also increases my average currently it is at 175 from only 4 weeks of bowling last week i bowled a 491 that was because they lanes we oilly and the wizard does nothing in medium oil it cains in dry lanes but nothing else???? any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello, i'll try to help with this one.

I'm not sure if the price is good on it or not, as i'm not familiar with Aussie pricing, but I do know somethings that can help.

If the lanes are a bit oily, then out of the box, the Venom will not help you with this one. The only way the Venom will help you out is if you sand it to about 2000 grit abralon right when you drill it, and to drill it with a somewhat stronger layout. I'm unsure of your PAP, so I cannot suggest a layout, but with what I just said, that's the only way you'll see a nice, desirable movement out of the Venom on more oily lane conditions.

Also, if you want a ball for oily conditions without having to do anything special to it, look into getting a Hammer The Sauce. It's a brand new release, and is MADE for oily lanes.

Hope this helps!

the venom is an awesome ball. it has an insane amount of backend, that makes it a phenomenon to watch. if you are looking for a heavy oil ball you may want to look at something else, as the venom is not designed for heavy heavy oil. the new sauce may be what you are looking for. if it is medium oil you have, try the venom or the bite out, those would hook circles around the wizard, and carry alot better.

Hi Brian:

I have the same problem, i like to buy a venom too. My problem is that i have The BW and the bite, my problem is that they not run in medium oil. I like to look my BW's and give me a opinion about the driling and specs. They are 14 and are make for left handled specs.
send me a quote for a venom with driling.. I dont know what to do. The sause is too agressive same as the BITE.

 thanks..

Hmm.. You're saying the Bite and Widow Solid are NOT hooking on medium oil, and that they're set up for a lefty? Are you a lefty? Because if you're a righty throwing a lefty drilled ball, that might be the biggest problem right now.

Also, the links you posted do not work. They only lead back to the Ballreviews.com homepage.

Sorry, Brian. Ok the problem are that the Bite acts too mucho agrassive and goes brookling or hits the one pin.... i am use too much force to hook the ball. Explain to me whats is the logical form to use a hi-revs ball.

You sell balls?? i like to buy the venom.. jejeje and i like that you drill it.

 Thanks

Sorry, I don't sell balls, nor can I drill.. Yet.. Lol.

Anyways, i'm assuming you're a lefty. Looking at the Bite there, it doesn't seem to have too strong of a layout on it (although that's just a guess, since I don't know you're PAP). If that ball is hooking too much for your heavier patterns, a Venom will actually fit nicely for you, or if you wanna even stay cheaper, the Raw Hammer Pyscho. The Pyscho outhooks my Venom.

Let me know what else I can do to help.

209.00 with drilling is the usual price for a lot of proshops for a high performance ball, so that's not a bad price. If you're able to, check out www.BuddiesProShop.com, they have the best servies, best prices.

Anyways, for the Venom, how exactly would you want it to react? And for what oil conditions?

Hi pal.. ummm exactly for medium oil.. strech shot and agresive end. Not polished, 4000 arbitron coverstock end. or 2000??? is too much agressive?

Left hand, my pro-shop put the mark over my two fingers..if you can see in the photos. That layout is good? is agressive??

 let me know..

  take care.

Yes, I saw the layout's on your two other Black Widow's. That layout shouldn't be very aggressive for the conditions your describing. Again, though, I don't know your PAP, so I could be completely off. If you want something tamer, i'd go with the Emerald Vibe. If you want the ball to get further down the lane and flip harder, go with the Venom.
